Pros
The employee benefits are awesome
Cons
Hard to balance home and work. Progressive is a very demanding employer and 9-10 hour work days with no breaks is common.
Pros
Very good about time off.
Local leadership has a vested interest in your development.
Very good about acting on feedback given.
Always trying new initiatives in an attempt to better the work environment.
Cons
Pay is low as compared to other companies and with there being few opportunities for advancement there really isn't an opportunity to really improve your salary a lot. Once you get out of the entry level position it is time to get comfortable as you are going to be at the next stage for a while.
Pros
Nearly fifteen years ought to tell you something. I met some great folks.
Cons
Change is constant, whether its the way work is to be done or reporting relationships. Very difficult to maintain a home work balance, time off is difficult to take.
Advice to Senior Management
I was just amazed that after fifteen years and stellar job reviews, a little conflict with a brand new manager is all it takes to be told to find work elsewhere.
Pros
The company makes good business decisions and is able to weather the bad economy
Cons
Promotions in middle management seem to go to the same type of people, rather than with those who have experience. We used to have some very inefficient processes.
Advice to Senior Management
You fired the wrong managers when you cleaned house 4 years ago
Pros
promotion, generous time off, bonuses, objective and quantifiable expectations
Cons
freeze on hiring, so workload got unreasonable.
Pros
Overall good place to work to float by and get paid more than average.
Excellent Benefits!
Excellent Bonuses!
Better than average policies and procedures in place to protect against random firings and retaliation.
Cons
Over the years you will grow to hate telephones, but I would expect this would happen in any call center.
Growth is difficult, not impossible but difficult.
Advice to Senior Management
It would be nice to have a little less call volume. If you think you have enough people just hire a couple more, just to be safe (and kind).
Pros
Progressive offers a great advancement option they have training to keep you going and stable in job knowledge. They also care about there employees.
Cons
I think sometimes there is too much time to spend with supervisors meaning I think they over supervise to some of the smallest problems.
Advice to Senior Management
You have ample opportunity to advance to management and the management there is great they on my opinion are ahead of schedule when it comes to management.
Pros
the cost of living in Cleveland
Cons
limited opportunities for those people not in product management. most people have been at progressive for a long time and do not wish to try new things.
Pros
Great team of committed people--despite lack of opportunity.
Location
Services available on campus
Health Services
Working with integrated teams that include all stakeholders in project outcome
Cons
Lack of management sincerity in developing people
Overt favoritism displayed by managers
Lack of consistency in application of Human Resource Policies
Advice to Senior Management
Go back to the basics and respect the human capital that you invested in to enable them to grow in the roles they have chosen
Pros
Decent salary and benefits, co workers are great
Cons
This is not the same company I started with over 6 years ago - now all about making money and numbers (crazy micro managed now) and sacrificing employees and customers. The just want a body there to answer the phone - no longer want you to go above and beyond just want you taking continuous phone calls. Would no longer recommend for anything long term. Typical BS politics.
Advice to Senior Management
Realize this company will go under if you do not train people properly and only focused on making money. Giving crazy metrics to meet is only causing less service to customers and more pissed off people
