    Pros

Progressive is committed to developing their people, providing in-depth training and coaching. I met some of the best people while working here! They offer up to 6% match for 401K and give back to their employees via profit sharing based on meeting profit goals. Top performers can receive monthly performance bonuses. They offer ergonomic workspaces, onsite health care, fitness center, & cafeteria.

    Cons

An employee used to be able to move between departments much easier. Now, it's nearly impossible to get out of the call center. The call center employees receive the lowest percentage of profit sharing and they are the ones directly interacting with customers & contributing to the bottom line via new sales and retention. Depending on call volume, reps can leave early; usually resulting in longer hold times for customers, causing the remaining reps to deal with aggravated customers.

    Advice to Management

Turnover is high in the call center, yet nothing seemed to be happening to investigate why it is so high and making changes accordingly. Call center managers who continually receive complaints should be required to attend manager training and then go through an academy-type process. We all know it takes more money to onboard new hires than retain existing employees. Plus, it is cutting into profit by allowing this to continue.

    Pros

gainshare, etb and flexibility is awesome. flexibility varies upon which department you are employed under. I got hired 3 weeks before the gainshare deadline and still got a bonus check, how awesome is that!!!!! it was a minimal amount but still thought that was cool. it is a challenging experience to get hired at progressive. but once your hired really the sky is the limit. they encourage growth and promote within. you tell them where you want to go your ideal job and they lay out which jobs you need to do to get too your ideal job, the perfect stepping stones. at this point im not looking for another employer. progressive is thr best employer Ive had thus far. I just got promoted after 6 months to a higher position, so the jobs are there just have to have the skills and motivation to move up the ladder. thanks for reading this longgg message. best to luck to all interested candidates!!!!

    Cons

with every job there is consistent change and improvements, but at progressive customer service is the holy grail. If you dont say some scripts verbatim you can be penalized as non standard if that can is pulled by your supervisor for review. There is huge emphasis on getting get positive results from the customer, as it should be. I disagree with sick and vacation being combined in one. I literally came to work sick vomiting and had to suck it up because you cant request etb off the day off , it has to be prior. plus time off is based upon business needs. but how am i suppose to forecast being sick!!!!!

    Pros

Great people to work with, good benefits, flexible schedule .

    Cons

Raises are a joke, micromanaged , you can't get out of call center - I have applied for multiple positions and always get turned away .. I don't understand they treat their call center reps horribly we would rather have raises then pie or popcorn or Popsicles for a job well done

    Advice to Management

Give better raises.... We have families to support .

    Pros

Progressive offers a wide range of benefits and perks. They preach and implement diversification.

    Cons

Management unfair- it is who you know, not how hard you work. Not worth going to HR as they are bias and if you do, you are penalized. Degrees are not always needed.

    Advice to Management

recognize hard workers and promote them.

Great people to work with, has many events to promote work environment, lots of free lunches, good salary, good bonus program (everyone loves gainshare day)

    Cons

Limited upward advancement, since the recession company has leaned out practices which makes it next to impossible to get promoted to team leader

    Advice to Management

    Pros

At main campus its a great work environment, very casual work place. Gain share is paid out based on company performance (no manager preferential treatment). Senior leadership is fairly approachable

    Cons

Within IT being promoted to lead level positions (or higher) is very political. Workload expected of two people with the same title can vary greatly in different parts of IT.

    Advice to Management

Growth paths and promotion opportunities need to be better communicated and more clearly defined. Line managers need to ensure they understand what senior leadership wants to avoid generated wasted work.
