I have been working at Prosper Inc.

    Pros

As long as you make sells, you can kinda make own schedule. The other employees are great to work with.

    Cons

Some of the sales tactics used are shady. They make you believe you are truly helping people, but after awhile I'm not sure that is really happening.

I worked at Prosper Inc. full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great people, good work environment,

    Cons

Middle managers who actively make everyones jobs more difficult, look for ways to cut pay and screw the people they work with every day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize the people you have working there and use their skills instead of promoting the least experienced people because they are in the hugs and fist bumps inner circle with management.

I worked at Prosper Inc. full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Some coworkers
Free books (even if some are terrible)
    Some interesting guests
The few times we have bbqs or parties

    Cons

    No budget
    Multiple layoffs
Executives don't know what they're doing
Any suggestions against higher ups earn title of "negative nancy" or "not a team player"
    Product is terrible
    A lot of turnover
Only get in good graces by being a "yes man" even if the plan or ideas are stupid ... Or potentially against the law or at least good ethics
Too focused on sales people. The sales guys and gals would often think they had it bad, but it was nothing compared to the business admin side. They would get free lunch and fun things all the time, all the admins got was lectures and no recognition for the hard work done. Sales are what brings in the money, but the business admin are who keep the business running.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to all suggestions, get a budget, don't label people for having suggestions or ideas that are contrary to your opinion, get someone who actually knows what they're doing to run your company, don't act like you're always trying to be the good guys. You aren't. Don't give out company shirts as Christmas presents, it's lame.

I worked at Prosper Inc. full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

You always feel like you are working with friends.

    Cons

They always dangle the carrot of lead improvement, bigger and better opportunity, but after a while, I had to move on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change your strategy, and loosen up the purse. People love the atmosphere and the potential at Prosper, but often feel like the potential is only that- potential and it may never be realized.

The hard working reps that are skilled make very good money.

I worked at Prosper Inc. part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great energy there. Enjoyed working with highly motivated individuals. They often offer free breakfast or lunch and there are incentives/bonuses for performing well which motivates you to do a better job.

    Cons

Mid level management at that time was unhelpful and would actual be a detriment at times to meeting your goals. However, team leaders and the founders are awesome. They help you set goals and actually achieve them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire mid level management who inspire through actions and example.
