Company is all talk. Don't drink the Kool Aid.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe large system provided access to a lot of tools and resources that made it easier to get things done. Compassion is evident throughout system.

ConsNo local control, decisions are made by disconnected regional or system executives. Limited staff training opportunities; low pay; marginal benefits. A lot of talk but very little action and follow through. Weak local management due to system overreach.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    A/R Specialist (Current Employee)

    Prosgood benefits for loyal employees.

ConsCompany is in flux right now, with alot of constant change.
Management and above, are not equipped to handle the changes competently.

Decent place, but watch out for who you talk to

    Security (Former Employee)
    Everett, WA

ProsFaith-based organization, immediate supervisor was awesome and very supportive, lots of overtime available, decent pay.

ConsThey do not give you full credit for previous experience and pay raises for non-union employees are non-existent. Very political environment, hasty decision-making or no decision-making at all. There were many times that policies contradicted themselves and prevented personnel from effectively/efficiently performing their duties.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide more transparency regarding leadership, be able to differentiate between petty gossip and fact. Allow the employees and supervisors to have discretion in executing their jobs.

    A/R Specialist (Current Employee)
    Portland, OR

ProsVery lenient, tattoo acceptance, great benefits, great group of people.

ConsThe leadership is so stacked, sometimes it's difficult to see the bigger picture of what's going on. This is pretty typical of any large corporation, though.

It's who you know, not what you know.

    Office Assistant (Current Employee)
    Portland, OR

ProsBenefits are great, room for growth in some departments, training, good communication with leadership.
Smooth transitions with internal transfers. Paid time off benefits.

ConsPay, work/life balance, micromanages, working environment (too cold in the offices), small work spaces, no encouragement to build friendships or rapport within a team, expectations of no talking feels like you're in school and not at a career where you are trusted.

A good company with a mission being led poorly to its demise

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsPrior to the leadership changes Providence was a good company that held to a core mission that made this a great place to work. People and patient focus were at the center of all the work. Now...

ConsCronyism, nepotism and favoritism abound. The mission is all but gone from Providence under the current leadership. Mid level managers and directors make decisions based on keeping their jobs rather than doing the right thing. Senior leaders...bound to over proceed compensation packages and golden parachutes use all the right words ... but model a "me first" mentality that leaves employees out in the cold.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou are a company in decline. Stop making stories to cover the faults and and mistakes in leadership decisions and start doing the right thing ... for your patients and doing the right thing for your employees. Take a truthful hard inner accounting of the leadership you are providing and listen to your employees.

I worked for the Health Plan

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Beaverton, OR

ProsIt was a great company when I first started there many years ago. The pay is good, the atmosphere is relaxed. The parking was free and close to my home. There are many good employees there.

ConsOnce you are there a long time, they find a way to get rid of you. They know they can get someone in for a lot less money. Many, many have been fired for bogus reasons that put in a lot of years with them. The managers are awful. Most of them have no idea what they are doing. They won't promote you. They have taken away so many benefits. I guess because they have to pay for Providence Park now!

Advice to Senior ManagementSo much for the core values. They way the employees are treated is against the Mission. The poor Sisters are probably rolling in their graves.
