    Pros

Great staff, great community, good benefits. They are helpful and want to help you succeed and truly care about every patient, family member and staff member

    Cons

Traffic to get there is rough in the morning depending what direction you are coming from. Also, have to deal with sad news too which is not fun to tell people

    Advice to Management

Keep all departments informed better. I felt like you should know what decisions are being made that affect you. I don't like being in the dark.

I worked at Providence Hospital (Less than a year)

    Pros

Diverse patient population, great attending teaching doctors, historic building. Nursing staff was mostly friendly and worked together as a team. Some resident doctors were great.

    Cons

Outdated hospital could tell hospital is having budget problems. A lot of the resident doctors did not speak properly English and were very rude.

    Pros

Very good training & staff. A great place to start.

    Cons

All areas of the hospital are not created equal, so floating was often a misery. Salary is the worst. Overworked & underpaid is standard operating procedure. Even the very best raises are a joke. Be prepared to read from a script when you round.

    Advice to Management

Upgrade the oldest parts of the hospital. Pay your employees a decent salary. Eliminate mandatory overtime for RN's. Staff appropriately. Appreciate your employee's before they are forced to find another job.

Very flexible Great people to work with You get to go to different departments You get four days off You can work full time, part time, or registry.

    Cons

You work a lot of 1:1 sitter jobs. You can frequently end up on a floor that you don't like a lot. You don't know where you are going ahead of time.

    Pros

Providence Hospital has comitted to improving its public image by improving the physical space, focus on customer service, and quality of care.

    Cons

Providence Hospital has not shown the same comittment to ensuring professional development of its employees, or ensuring the salaries are in line with industry standards.

    Advice to Management

I would advise managment to adjust priorities for allocation of resources, adjust salaries appropriately.

I have been working at Providence Hospital full-time

    Pros

The building is round so you don't have to go very far.

    Cons

They don't staff well. They keep saying hang on we are hiring people but they are always under staffed frequently the nurse ratio is 1 nurse to 8 patients and if they have enough nurses they don't have any cnas and they expect nurses to do everything for 6 patients!

    Advice to Management

get more staff and pay more
