    Pros

Family work oriented with staff within the department.

    Cons

    Great patient care services.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management should pay more attention to the employees who come to work and give 110 percent daily and the employees who don't.

Good place to learn, but watch your back with management. Just smile and say "hello," and keep walking!

I worked at Providence Hospital full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good place to learn in a small setting with a small number of well educated md's and anesthesiologists. You get a lot more ono on one training without 10 other students breathing down your neck.

    Cons

Management is very buddy buddy and they look out for each other, not their employees. They will also throw your butt under the bus in a second for their own benefit. It took a long time for me to realize all of the twisted things that go on outside our "worker-bee" surroundings. I realized I liked just being a worker-bee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would hope that management would be more honest and open to their employees, because we can tell when your lying to us right in front of our faces. If not, then the truth always comes out.

Fair treatment but rehabilitation is low on the priority list.

I have been working at Providence Hospital part-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Stable management. Benefits seem to be average. The new hospital wing is a treat to work in and the nursing staff is excellent and well managed. The rehab manager is fair and consistent, as he should be, but tends toward over organized with systems or algorithms for nearly everything which makes it easy for therapist with poor clinical reasoning skills but a pain in the neck for those with thinking ability and experience.

    Cons

Performing quality treatment has become more challenging due to the administration's increased focus on increased profit margin and decreased cost. You might be saying, "thats just good business", and you would be right, except that there is a limit and when it is reached, quality and continuity suffer. In the end, the patients get the short end. By the way, hospital CEOs make a HUGE salary, even compared to other CEOs in other types of companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Squeeze some other department other than rehab and social work.

I have been working at Providence Hospital full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I can honestly say as an employee of Providence Hospital, there is absolutely nothing positive that I can think of about my experience at this facility! It is a nightmare to work there! In other words, there is a lot of room for improvements in EVERY area at this place. Ascension Health needs to do an thorough investigation of management as a whole!

    Cons

There is no employee advocate to help improve working conditions, so employee moral is horrible. There is no unity between employees. There is reverse discrimination. There is a very high turn-over of employees due to these conditions. Work here at your own risk!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be fair to every employee under your guidance. The favoritism needs to stop and you should show more appreciation toward the employees that you have. We all have unique skills and you should take the time to learn them and occasionally give us a pat on the back for the good things that we do! Management has created a VERY HOSTILE environment at the Mobile Providence! It is a sad situation!
