    Best in NYC!

I worked at Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate

    Pros

Long history, well known with a great reputation

    Cons

Not of the company but of the industry…too many amateurs trying to do a professions job

I have been working at Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Fair compensation on the corporate side.

    Cons

Not a very nurturing or engaging corporate community. There is also a huge communication gap between New Development, Corporate, and the local DE offices. Hardly any support for new agents and no mentorship program to see the success of new DE members.

  3.

Training is not bad but tough to make it as real estate as a salesperson.

I have been working at Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate

    Pros

    Brand name recognition and training.

    Cons

The annual fees are quite high in comparison to other firms I believe. Office Managers in my office are not always available and often don't respond to emails. I think that if you don't get a desk that is fine, but you shouldn't have to pay to have a desk if you don't get your own desk.

I have been working at Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

A very well respected company, the name alone should win you people's confidence. Beautiful office space. They are constantly attempting to implement new technologies and create strategic partnerships. I like a lot of the people in management.

    Cons

Not well organized technologically. LIMO (the company listing system) is a nightmare. I worked here for a few years, left for 8 years and recently came back. The LIMO system hadn't changed a lick in my absence--not a jot . Addditionally, things are unnecessarily complicated--too many systems are in play... rather than one streamlined interface platform, they have LIMO, EDGE and ELLI, OUTLOOK. And the worst of the cons are the fees they charge their agents... that and the commission splits. In this day and age 50/50 starting commission is a dying model.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to streamline systems, and stop charging your agents fees. The commission splits are aggressive enough; no need to charge fees in addition.

    Pros

Douglas Elliman's brand recognition is top-notch. Great place to work if you are an experienced agent because it will help you grow your business.

    Cons

Tough place to work if you are just starting out in the industry. Two weeks of "training" isn't really training. You do not learn how to conduct a transaction from start to finish, their training is just in place to acquaint you with their systems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Make training more meaningful

I worked at Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I learned to write advertising, develop marketing materials, and to utilize Excel. I had a great relationship with most of the agents and my direct supervisor.

    Cons

My pay was cut 10% and my hours were changed abruptly. I was basically told to take it or leave it. Two of the office managers I worked under had no concern for office staff and only cared to satisfy the agents.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your office staff run your business.
