I worked at Purdue University as a contractor for more than 3 years

    Pros

You meet a lot of great people, get exposed to parts of campus you didn't know about, Looks amazing on a resume

    Cons

Some bosses don't care as much as they should, some people get jobs that shouldn't have them, anytime you have a job where you have to deal with people you're going to run into those that just make it miserable

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to what the RAs are suggesting. They are "in the trenches" they know the changes that need to happen.

I have been working at Purdue University

    Pros

I was a PhD graduate student in Mechanical Engineering. There are great faculty to work under, and excellent research facilities. But as always in graduate school, your particular advisor will be the difference between an enjoyable 5 years or hell.

    Cons

It's graduate school; can be tough at times. Either funding shortages, equipment failure, lack of interesting classes, qualifying exams. But take it all in stride.
