Pros
Location, decent salary and benefits package, passionate leadership team
Cons
Not very flexible, empty promises
Pros
good work environment and friends
Cons
not good in management and friends
Pros
I found PCL's comp and benefits package competitive. Good support for job training and professional development. Good opportunites to move within the company to develop professionally. Proven commitment to Employer of Choice initiatives.
Cons
Not enough support for transfer of knowledge, and job training. Learn as you go, trial by fire environment. Management not quick to have your back. Lips service to work/life balance. You better have good daycare if your kid is sick. Lots of new initiatives without the manpower resources to support them...string staff resources really thin with the volume of work- even for someone not afraid to work hard.
Advice to Senior Management
Upper management need to make middle management accountable for how they treat their staff. They need to increase education and awareness of workplace bullying and intimidation. They also need to match some resources to all of the great initiatives that are being introduced.
Pros
Good corporate culture. It's nice to now that people have a place to hang out after work if they so choose.
Cons
Career Progression. You really have to press your manager if you want to have any prospects of moving up the ladder.
Advice to Senior Management
I would tell management to pay more attention to the needs to their employees. If they are not satisfied professionally, it could have negative consequences in day to day work.
Pros
fair minded management, understanding of personal issues
Cons
ergonomically stressful, work environment not comfortable
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to others and work together
Pros
Employee benefits and compensation are good. Positive open door policy of senior management. Genuiney cares about employees and is supportive of those wanting to work hard to advance in the organization.
Cons
Fast paced environment. Must be able to cope with change and adapt quickly.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to survey your employees to find out what is REALLY happening in the organization. There are some leaders in the company who are taking the wrong approach with their people and this leaves the wrong impression of the entire company with some of your employees..
Pros
colleagues in other departments other than A/R great to work with
Cons
gyped on pay, get shortchanged at times. overworked, underpaid, overtime is expected. must make up time if away even though you've worked overtimeget Blamed for why customers are complaining. usually it's when someone else doesn't do their job. Have to chase other coworkers to give you the answers you need to assist customer. too many billing errors. Warning letters handed out too freely. Management doesn't listen to two sides of the story.
Advice to Senior Management
listen to employee complaints. lessen workload or hire more folks.
Pros
Brand awareness, good team members
Cons
extremely heavy workload, mixed priorities
Advice to Senior Management
retain good performers
Pros
Friendly people
Managers and employees interact regularly
Special employee events like BBQs, fundraisers, Diversity days make it an enjoyable work environment.
Cons
Purolator seems like a big company but it doesn't spend a lot of money on benefits and perks. The benefits are okay but not very rich.
Advice to Senior Management
Senior managment needs to be more visible to regular employees. Recognition in the field locations needs to be improved too.
Pros
Not having an manager who has no idea about operations and only understands what a computer is telling them not looking over your shoulder and watching your ever move.Weekends off
Cons
Managers right from the top down. The 12-14 hour days.Dental, health, vision and pension way below par
Advice to Senior Management
Get up off your tail and away from your computer and learn more about the job that they are suspending people for.Understand that I have a live outside of work and not to suspend me if I wish I can only work 10 hours today and cannot complete the job.
