Not enough growth, too much admin

    Tax Associate (Current Employee)
    Calgary, AB (Canada)

    Pros- Good off-season perks
    - Employee benefits are decent
    - Flexible schedule (off-season)
    - Reputable company name

    Cons- Too much work politics
    - Policies can easily change without notice
    - Honest, hard-working employees don't get recognition
    - Does not reward good talent and productivity
    - Too much emphasis on being billable over giving employees their own autonomy to grow and learn on their own

Advice to Senior Management- To decrease high turnover/low morale, listen to your employees
    - Never give into work politics and make sure they are rewarded by productivity and work habits rather than favoritism
    - Give recognition where needed and understand why good workers will end up leaving for another company
    - As management and team leader, be sure to keep employee's motivated and morale high. Solving problems earlier while reduce headaches for both you and the employees
    - Don't disregard any feedback from employees as they may be the only ones courageous enough to speak up.

Nice ideas but some poor middle management

    Manager (Current Employee)
    Calgary, AB (Canada)

ProsLooks good on your resume. Good place to make connections. A few terrific people. Hidden gems.

ConsSoft skills carry no importance here so some really poor middle managers get away with treating their staff appallingly. Everyone knows it and silently accepts it. Compensation is misleading, potential bonuses are inflated when they hire you and the reality is a little different. Don't expect compensation like you will get at other places in Calgary.

Advice to Senior ManagementRequire managers to be decent people. Discipline or terminate people who are repeat offenders of poor or abusive treatment of their staff. Stop ignoring people who bring their concerns forward.

    Great company

    Consulting Associate (Current Employee)
    Calgary, AB (Canada)

ProsGreat people, lots of challenges to build skill set, talented & driven co-workers, lots of growth potential in western canada, easy to transition to industry if you do not like consulting

ConsNot many cons, but there are firm/office politics to deal with(contrary to meritocracy image). However, this could be seen as more of a regional/office issue rather than an overall company issue.
