    Pros

I joined after working at another Big 4 firm for 5+ years and could not be happier with my decision to make the change. I truly hope that I'll retire from this firm (and I have a lot of working years left!)

    Cons

The expectations at PwC are very, very high; the rewards that you receive all the way around make it so well worth it. Tremendous ROI.

Managers can be difficult to work with at times. There's competition among staff for better projects.

    Advice to Management

    Find a democratic staffing process.

    Pros

Top-notch colleagues, challenging work. Overall great place to work if you're looking to develop quickly.

    Cons

High-expectations and long workdays are the norm, but hard work is recognized and rewarded. However, compensation is slightly below the industry norm.

    Advice to Management

    Maintain and continue to grow the collaborative culture;

    Pros

Strong brand reputation; good opportunities to move around among multiple lines of service and verticals; exposure to high profile clients and projects; lots of vacation time given and they are trying to improve flexibility options

    Cons

Incompetent people are hired and kept on far too long; work a lot of hours without being financially recognized; can run into bureaucratic politics due to the size of the company

    Advice to Management

If you're going to hire incompetent people in the first place, at least be willing to recognize when they aren't working out and take the necessary action to move them out - they drain the time and energy of your committed resources and don't represent the firm's brand well

    Pros

A lot of talent and knowledge in one place. You'll learn from the best in the industry and can go many places with PwC on your resume. Great school!

    Cons

Long hours of work, difficulty keeping work-life balance, need to be connected on an ongoing basis, no offices until you make it to director.

    Advice to Management

To keep promoting a flexible work environment. Also need to improve the fringe benefits such as provide better childcare options, and add a free/subsidized gym and/or workout classes for employees.

    Pros

Working with individuals that are driven.
    Exposure to multiple clients.
    Well compensated for travel.

    Cons

Challenge is being held into rank and file placements. Rating didn't dictate change in exposure in my case. I found it frustrating.

Decided for my situation there wasn't enough reward in the long hours.

I only went through a single 12/31 season though (also on two 9/31s and a 6/30 year ends) so I admit my time was very limited.

    Advice to Management

I think they added mid year promotions which is my suggestion. Don't let the highest rated employees feel vindictive.

    Pros

Great group of people at this firm. Consulting has a reputation of having egocentric people however, I didn't have that experience at PwC... Most people were fantastic to work with but you still have to "keep up appearances" so no surprises there. I enjoyed my time there and the projects I worked on were challenging and rewarding. It takes some networking to find the right projects but once you do it is a great experience in learning.

    Cons

Consulting is a very unique career and anyone who chooses this career field should be prepared for the challenges it comes with.
With that said PwC itself has gone through some changes after the acquisition of Strategy& and getting a project is much harder than it used to be with all the mouths to feed now.

The whole management process is also a bit messy as one does not have a traditional manager who is heavily invested in your career - some consulting companies are better at this than others at managing this problem and PwC is not one of the good ones. It can feel like you are on an Island most of the time.

    Advice to Management

Find a better review and management system for your new associates. Managers are not as invested in your talent as you want them to be.

    Pros

Most people are great and really smart and driven. They have great benefits.

    Cons

Managers and above take advantage. They will work you as hard as they can. It can be really easy to get burnt out.
