ProsLots of room to grow at PwC if you produce good work and have decent social skills. The benefits are pretty good.

ConsExpectations are so ridiculously high. You're expected to spend most of your day working and to make work your first priority (even over family sometimes...)

Advice to Senior ManagementMake your family your first priority and then lead by example. Work life balance will never improve at PwC unless management leads by example. It all starts at the top.

ProsGrowth and development are taken very seriously. Opportunities are made available to those who are high performers and are proactive about their career. The people I work with are wicked smart, yet are fantastic team players. The group I work in are great about work-life balance.

ConsI wasn't too impressed with the compensation increases this year, especially after a year with no compensation increase. But it's not a deal breaker.

Advice to Senior ManagementI think PwC management is doing a fine job. I'd like to see them continue efforts to build a culture of "one firm."

Good workplace, bad pay masters

Advisory Senior Associate (Current Employee)
McLean, VA

I have been working at PwC

Pros1. Tremendous brand name in market,
2. Great place to get experience with diverse set of clients
3. Size of the firm makes it possible to network far and wide
4. Opportunity to work with some of the most competent people in the industry

Cons1. Pay is not upto par with market, especially for Consulting and IT professionals
2. Company is stingy with payment of annual bonus
3. Company extracts every last drop of work from employees, including late nights and weekends however refuses to pay overtime wages.
4. HR and administrative policies are mired in red tape, making it difficult for operations management to make quick decisions

Advice to Senior Management1. Please discard the one-size-fits-all approach. The Advisory / consulting business is a whole different beast from Assurance / Tax
2. Revise pay-scales to match competitors, not just among other Big 4 but also other employers in general. In particular pay close attention to over time pay.
3. Hire more competent HR professionals

ProsGlobal firm. Great place to start your career. Lot of trainings and learning oppotunities. Global rotation available for people. Its hard to move around though.

ConsVery hard to change service lines. If you stick with firm salary movements are very slow. Promotion is not fair . People are oK.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on more on firms individual growth. people needs to be more appreciated. Things needs to improve in all this aspects/

ProsLearn a lot in a short period of time.
Great place to launch your career.

ConsLong hours.
The Feedback process is not that great.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement should focus on creating a convinient environment for minorities. It is more difficult for minorities to succeed.

Not the best place for me.

Intern (Current Employee)
McLean, VA

I have been working at PwC

ProsSome of the best reasons would be the pay, the brand and the prestige. Other than that...nothing

ConsThe long hours, no life, they demand their intrusion into your personal life. Working weekends, no pay raises, little to no promotion of diversity initiatives

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on promoting your brands to others that don't think and look like you. In addition, take the time out to think about your employees and what's best for them and not what's best for our projects and our brand.
