ProsMost wonderful co-workers. Senior Management is transparent about decisions

ConsMicro-managed by middle management. In and out time was being watched closely. Did not valued that I had worked late to get the work done, just note when I came in.

    The Only Constant is Change

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Irvine, CA

ProsCompensation, benefits and office culture are great. Management when not being micro-managed is capable of greatness.

The remote work opportunities are abundant but not available to all.

ConsThe direction of the Company changes too frequently. Cost-cutting is the latest trend, rather than focus on dated systems and processes, the employee have been sacrificed.

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove your associates' work-life balance or you will lose the good associates that remain.

Decide whether or not you want to maintain business operations in North America.

The company I worked for 9 years was bought by QBE - and that was the start of the end

    Team Lead (Former Employee)
    Moon Township, PA

ProsAfter moving up a bit in the company, I made okay money and had benefits. The pros I brought out of the job were the people who I worked with. I never met a group of people who were more graceful while continually being crapped on.
This goes for the initial company before and after being bought by QBE.

ConsQBE did not seem to care about its employees, especially the North America employees. I am 43 years old and had to count every second for production time, including going to the restroom. QBE bought the company I worked for and I recently left QBE although I am still watching the entire office, tenured and talented employees get layoff dates, the entire office is closing. I gave up severance for security with another company. Prior to being bought by QBE, we had moved into a larger building and were flourishing.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you are respectful to people, they are more willing to go above and beyond for you.
If management is trained properly the staff should not have to spend 1/2 hour daily tallying their time, a good manager will know who is working and who is not.
I have never in my life worked somewhere so unethical. There were people not allowed to listen to headphones, others told to "not talk". Employees were treated like children by untrained management that thrived on power and favoritism. People were put in positions because they were liked. Some had absolutely NO people skills and showed it daily.
I actually wish I had acted when I could with one situation. I had a supervisor tell medical reasons why I was off for a few weeks to other employees. I should have nailed him and the company at that time. Learn the management rules and follow them.
Quit addressing all employees for things like dress code. If 1 person is not following rules, pull them aside, and address the issue.
