I have been working at QBE North America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people, for the most part are great!

    Cons

WAY too many cuts and offshoring. The last round of cuts from the latest RIF were much too deep and impacted the ability of the business to meet client expectations. Offshoring of HR and helpdesk have made the end user experience very painstaking.

    Advice to Management

Offshore only when it makes sense for the organization from all perspectives, not just to save money.

    Pros

New Senior Leadership wants to make a change. HIring really good talent as a result we are seeing good changes. Leadership has set up an example where many officers and Vice Presidents do not have an Assistant and to top it all the CEO and his direct reports in New York sit in cubes and not in office

    Cons

Don't invest enough in technology and innovation

    Pros

Management is really working towards building a global company with a focused strategy. Although the new strategy needs a little more time to execute, the benefits are starting to show in both performance results and people culture.

    Cons

There is still a lot of work to do and employees need to take the initiative to help execute the change in strategy. The environment in improving, but employees need to be self-motivated to help with the strategy.

    Advice to Management

Keep focusing on the culture and everything will continue to improve.

I worked at QBE North America (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefit and compensation plan is good.

    Cons

Job insecurity. Quite a few positions have been off-shored resulting in a high turnover rate . The knowledge loss with that turnover resulted in many procedures falling through the cracks and just an overall low moral within the company. Used to be a great place to work but the culture has changed dramatically.

    Pros

I don't have anything to say positive about QBE.

    Cons

This company did not care about the employee's. They bought a company and did not know how to run it. Management never knew what was going on. This company company outsourced their HR department, when you needed to speak to HR you had to send an email and wait 24 hours for a response.
