    Pros

Pay is good, PTO is good

    Cons

The work itself, management, getting time off approved, disorganization at its finest. The PA office is a sinking ship. It was purchased by QBE a few years ago and has since been in a downward spiral. Lay off after lay off after layoff. The upper management is horrible. They want to be your friend but that about it. You would get a better response if you asked them about a new movie review or what they did over the weekend than you would if you asked them something work specific.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To be proactive and not wait until the last minute. Be responsive when staff members come to you with an issue, don't wait for the issue to be address in 4 months. Be more concerned with work and productivity than your weekend plans.

    Pros

QBE is global oriented. They provide stock options for their employees. They are mostly interested in trying to fit all departments into one mold.

    Cons

QBE does not try to maintain valuable employees. Their organization job roles are not always very clear.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to upper management would be to listen to their employees.

    Pros

They let you work from home as needed.

    Cons

There are too many steps to get your job done. Everyone is passing the buck onto anyone they can. They truly don't take the time to understand the companies they buy. There is constant turn over and it feels like everyone is worried they may lose their job tomorrow if they make a decision.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust your employees to know and understand their jobs and products.

    Pros

Some incredible leaders at mid and senior management level. Provided solid experience in many areas. My professional development increased greatly until the past few years.
I really think the environment can be great again once the current adjustment is complete.

    Cons

The company is going through a transition related to regulatory issues. This caused a cautious approach. The company has gone through significant reorganization and the result is that some very good people have left. Too much focus on bottom line which has hampered development if next line of leaders.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start investing time in devoting the next wave of leadership as many solid leaders are leaving.

I have been working at QBE North America full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The ability to work remotely when needed or full time. They are very flexible in that regard, so it makes those with families be able to work between needed time off and not have to use PTO or lose pay as a result.

    Cons

Bad pay. The morale is low. Constant talk about profit and little team building or morale boosting. Benefits consistently are getting worse. They have these values we are supposed to live by, and state that if you meet them or exceed them you will be rewarded but that's not correct. Going above and beyond is rarely if ever recognized by management. They reserve bonus' and praise for upper management which the "worker bees" have no way of moving up within the company because you can never get anything other than a meeting expectation on your yearly review.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on your employees and making them happy and your profit will increase.
