I have been working at QBE North America (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Long history with good talent at various levels, not sure about the top levels though.

    Cons

Currently going through a great deal of transition and right sizing so would suggest avoiding them as an employer at the present time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at QBE North America

    Pros

Good salaries and benefits. Excellent 401k -- core contribution plus matching.

    Cons

Job stability, every increasing budget cuts, lack of local leadership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your agents aren't dumb -- they know how you've been running the company. You don't become a leader by outsourcing your talent.

I worked at QBE North America full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The company pays market salaries. You can work sometimes work remotely.

    Cons

The company was formed through the acquisition of over 15 companies. They operated independently through 2010. Senior Management of the holding company in Australia hired Accenture to help them reduce costs. The solution was to transition from an holding company to an operating company. They decided to consolidated and centralize a number of functions in order to achieve some cost reductions. Most functions that could be combined, such as HR, IT, Finance, Operations, Claims were in transition. Accenture operated an outsourcing facility in Manila. A number of functions would be transitioned there. It made sense for the company in order to reduce costs, but it meant that many jobs would be a risk for elimination. It is not a company for a career. You should only consider it as a short term stop.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Critically review the advice of the consultants. Consider the short term and long term implications of their recommendations. Develop a cohesive, comprehensive plan that achieves objectives without destroying the core values of the company.
