I worked at QEK full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

There are many good people who work for the company and QEK provided me with good work experiences for several years that helped me prepare for next steps in my career.

    Cons

QEK is a fine place to work if you are looking for a job but if you want a career and a company to grow with this is not the place. There are few promotions within the company and when you do get one they do not compensate accordingly. I experienced one "promotion" that came with a title and added responsibilities but no added pay.

Once you reach management level advancement opportunities are much more difficult to come by.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote your good people from within, and pay them accordingly!

    Program coordinator=Secretary and scapegoat

I have been working at QEK as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

It pays slightly more than Burger King. You fill out paperwork all day, so if you want to be a secretary, it's perfect.

    Cons

Salary is about 40% too low for the type of work required. Pay should be at least $20 an hour considering most positions require managing hundreds of vehicles, yet they only pay $13 to $14. This is for a job requiring you to be responsible for hundreds of vehicles which you almost never see or interact with. When a vehicle is missing/dirty/in someplace it's not supposed to be/some other issue it's all your fault (even though you've never even seen the vehicle). You're a secretary, and a low payed scapegoat, and not much else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For your abysmal salary and type of work required, instead of hiring knowledgeable, tenured Automotive people, why not hire people in their late teens who are just getting started in the Admin/Secretarial world? Being a vehicle coordinator (or so-called "program" coordinator) is secretarial work, period, and requires almost zero knowledge of vehicles. When something better comes along, those folks will leave you just like me....but at least your lousy job will be a step up for them, instead of the massive step down that it was for me.

    Pros

They work within the limits of the law.

    Cons

Company officials have no idea what the job entails. They are only concerned with their main contract and have no regard for their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I worked at QEK full-time

    Pros

None that I can think of and I have given it quite a bit of thought.

    Cons

To many to list - I really was offended by a question asked at my surprise dismissal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest and open with your employees. Be careful what is said to avoid bad feelings on the part of your former employees. I could have left with good feelings because of what was said I didn't.

    I worked at QEK full-time

    Pros

I cannot think of one nice thing to say about this company.

    Cons

EVERYTHING! They are so cheap. Went without an office cleaner for months. No growth potential unless you are an executive. Your annual anniversary is never acknowledged. Plan on staying at minimum pay, which is grossly under the average median salary in the metro Detroit area! The holidays are great ... watch as the executives dance around whispering about their bonuses when everyone else has made the same thing for years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit and let Penske bring in new management who knows what they are doing!!

I worked at QEK full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

If you need a job t hat has benefits, and gets you out of something like retail, I guess this works.

    Cons

Supervisors and management in certain groups have no idea what their employees do.
Immediate supervisors are permitted to bully employees and behave unprofessionally.
Pay is no better than working a retail job part time.
    The schedule is -not- flexible.
HR is heavily biased and often sides with members of the management team that they are on friendly terms with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn what your employees do before you try to implement changes or make unreasonable demands. Also, a few courses on how to behave professionally in the workplace might help.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
