    Collegiate experience, minimal pay

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsVery simple workload and workflow. Possible to stay on top of schedule. PTO accrued 4 hours every full work period (2 weeks).

ConsManagement unorganized, poor pay, not an environment for a college grad trying to go somewhere.

ProsThe other co-workers are what make it nice to go to work everyday.

ConsThe upper management, made some changes that has completely failed and they are to proud to admit it did not work. Since this company became a test project for some of these people in upper management and think thy know what they are doing and to blind to see they are wrong. good poeple are leaving and the crappy one stay.

Advice to Senior Managementswallow crow and admit your changes came way to soon.

    A sinking ship

    Case Coordinator/Case Specialist (Former Employee)
    San Antonio, TX

ProsHelping the veterans get their compensation.

ConsMid level management needs to be cleaned up. Not all are bad but the OM's that are stand out. Constant bullying. Lots of good workers with strong work ethics were bullied out in favor of those that blindly toke orders and complete task at any expense. Their is not accountability for the work that is done so errors are constant. More than half the day is spending trying to fix the claim. Providers are pushed to give more and more and Ops are treated the same. Everyone is frustrated and there's no one to turn assist. If you bring up an issue it will be ignored or worse, used against you later stating you don't adapt well to the "new workflow". Pay only moves up at best 3% per yearly review. They now have tiers for job levels with compensation caps. This will ensure you can't get a raise beyond your jobs cap.
Training is a joke. Even the trainers have to know this. Most of training is OJT and your sitting with a person that has metrics to meet as well and really doesn't have time to show you everything you need to know.
You will work with frustration constantly and stress will always be there. This place will make you physically sick from the stress.
Or veterans deserve so much better than what this company is doing for them. The VA itself is plagued with problems enough. This contractor shouldn't be following that example but they are. Claimant are being processed way past contractual timeliness and then cancelled because we couldn't get it done quick enough. The Veterans is the one that pays the most.

Advice to Senior ManagementOwn up to the mistakes you've made. Stop making the veterans pay for not being able to meet contractual timeliness. Clean up mid-level management and bring in mangers that have the capacity to do what they ask their employees to do.

Overpaid Private Contractor, does not share profits with employees

    Case Coordinator (Former Employee)
    San Antonio, TX

ProsI honestly could not think of one.............

ConsManagement at all levels is corrupt, unethical and bullies.
    Underpaid, micromanaged, poor training,
    No advancement opportunities
    Favoritism

Advice to Senior ManagementYou have an obligation to the Veterans you are providing a service to, not your shareholders.

Quick To Change, slow to improve.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsHelping veterans receive the benefits they deserve.

ConsPoor leadership from the top down, not even the CEO cares if any employee leaves the company. Negative environment. No mentorship. Horrible training, you have to figure it out for yourself. All about CYA. Not family friendly. HR is always trying to make sure employees get the minimum benefits they deserve. Hostile work enivronment. They try to bully employees to quit, so they won't have to pay them severerance pay. Managers are complete morons and gossip all day long. Most of the employees are far more intelligent than the leadership. Pays the doctor's a fraction of what they could earn in private practice and then require hours of paperwork to receive that meager pay. Broke work systems that always need fixing. Many wonderful employees have resigned in the last year and this company is glad they did.

Advice to Senior ManagementFire yourselves and let this company hire competent leadership who doesn't have a reactive and negative relationship with the VA, but a productive and positive one with VA. Also need leadership who will mentor new hires and cherish the long standing employees and appreciate their loyalty.

This is a job not a career

    Quality Assurance Specialist (Current Employee)
    San Antonio, TX

ProsIt is a good job if you have no inner drive, and do not require exceptional advancement potential. The job is important for Veterans.

ConsVacation time is terrible, no mentorship or professional development. Mid-level management is terrible, they are always in self preservation mode rather than mentorship. Mid-level management does not care enough to entertain suggestions.

Advice to Senior ManagementMid-level management does not care enough to hear advice from employees.

    Dysfunctional Company

    Case Coordinator (Current Employee)
    Diamond Bar, CA

ProsIt's a job for those who can tolerate abuse.

ConsChaotic unstable hostile environment, rules change often, condescending arrogant dictatorship leadership cannot do what they expect employees to do, poor trainers and poor training, biased ineffective unethical management, condescending treatment. They'll squeeze what they can out of you in exchange for the minimum.

Advice to Senior ManagementSome employees who make numerous errors are friends with management and are not held accountable.

Not a nice place to work.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Diamond Bar, CA

ProsUsed to be a nice place to work when it was a family owned company.

ConsIt was like working under complete duress. Constantly being watched - no talking, not using the bathroom too much. Very miserable working for managers who throw their weight around and use cruelty and threats to make sure you do what they want.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook at the people you have managing your various departments. Heavy handed supervision is no way to lead.
