Pros
Great benifits, time off, work / life balance. Management is very accomadating when allowing time off for family. There is a bunch of opportunities to move around in the company. Nice severance packages.
Cons
There is little growth because no one wants to leave. There are a few locations. The cafe food sucks. They have been laying people off lately.
Advice to Senior Management
Take a harder look at how they prepare employees for growth within a position, and NEVER forget the best part of the company "fun along the way"!
Pros
Great benefits.
Good pay.
Good resume builder.
Interesting day to day work (very different from traditional retail).
Nice Location.
Cons
Middle management is promoted on tenure and not ability to do the job. The majority of middle management has zero people skills.
The environment is very difficult in terms of trusting others. Fellow employees and middle management throw each other under the bus for advancement and this culture is encouraged.
If constructive criticism is given the individual is considered "negative" and only positive feedback is acceptable; very "pleasantville" despite this most employees in this area are miserable but stay for the benefits and because they have not worked anywhere but QVC.
Advice to Senior Management
Reevaluate culture.
If "assuming innocents" and wanting to hear feedback is a priority do not simply teach classes about it (the QVC diffrence).
Implement it by not rewarding back stabbing and lack of people skills with promotions.
Pros
Amazing work / life balance
Cons
Always busy. Sometimes longs hours; but that's expected as it's tv.
Advice to Senior Management
Stay trustworthy
Pros
benefits, employee discount, cafeteria, nice building and location
Cons
Low pay. HR is difficult to work with. HR is bad at responding and helping employee.
Pros
Benefits and the employees are always upbeat.
Cons
Our department has gone under too many changes, and if you complain you are on there hit list.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn the job before making changes, we have been segrated from the tour route and had to sacrife productivity. It is not form over function and there needs to be a happy medium between the two.
Pros
Benefits, pay, employee discount, 24/7 well known large company
Cons
Management, inexperienced employees, too many politics, no room for vertical growth
Advice to Senior Management
Hire people who know what they're doing and how to manage. People who run online marketing have never worked outside the company and have zero outside viewpoints. They're have narrow-minded and yet are in charge of hiring new people. They end up hiring people who don't know what they're doing. Department is tense. No one looks happy to be there.
Pros
multi platform approach to retailing is in keeping with the marketplace. Benefit package is a strong one, and culture is unique.
Cons
the company is located in sleepy suburbs of Philadelphia, not much to do, or places to go outside of work.
Pros
Growing company
Options available to move laterally in the company
Great work environment and culture
Cons
Opportunity for vertical career development options
Large company with lots of "red tape" for resources
Advice to Senior Management
There needs to be more areas for advancement for team.
Pros
Great benefits and great environment. Many opportunities to grow
Cons
pay is a little on the low side but it is entry-level
Advice to Senior Management
Don't make the trainee program a mandatory year-long thing. If possible, promote earlier :)
Pros
Great, dedicated staff. The people at QVC are great and what makes it worth coming to work everyday. Sense of common purpose.
Cons
No work life balance, but almost should be expected with a 24/7 company. Hectic pace becomes addicting, but in almost an unhealthy way.
Advice to Senior Management
There will continue to be high quality people leaving the company because promotions are based on seniority and not talent.
