I worked at QVC part-time for more than a year

    Pros

This job was close to home for me and offered part time hours which was what I wanted. The discount was generous; 30%. Most of the people I worked with were really nice. I liked the fast pace of the job, and that I never had to bring work home with me.

    Cons

The part time schedules were very inflexible. I worked every weekend and somedays for two weeks straight, every day. Getting time off was not easy at all, even for a funeral. Raises were tiny and hard to obtain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote more people who deserve to be promoted, and eliminate nepotism.

I have been working at QVC

    Pros

Excellent benefits, excellent pay, you don't have supervisors on top of you all the time, no forced over time, nice discounts.

    Cons

Supervisors need to pay more attention to complaints and manager should be on the floor more often listening to us the regular employees. Everything is numbers and numbers instead of listening to us.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be on the floor more often.

The most chaotic company I have ever worked for. Ego and not logic rules this company!

I worked at QVC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    The company pays really well.
There are a very few people that are really nice and fun to work for/with. My first 2 supervisors were awesome.
    The HR team seemed sincere.
It's fun to see celebrities walking around (if you are into that).

    Cons

The corporate office is in the middle of nowhere.
Most people have worked there all their professional lives. They are NOT open to new ideas and innovation, and are so insecure.
Filled with so many unhappy and unpleasant people.
Very political and full of fake people.
Strategies changes so often, it is extremely hard to keep up.
You get ahead if you are willing to step on people and throw them under the bus. For short, people without souls gets to stay.
Eating the same, unhealthy cafeteria food everyday is awful. You would have to drive about 20 mins. to get to another restaurant to eat food other than what is offered in the cafeteria.
    There is no work-life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a realistic strategy and expectations. The company need new blood. The people that have worked there for years, that are not open to change, are the ones dragging the growth of this company.

I have been working at QVC

    Pros

Great people on the team I worked with.

    Cons

Stagnant. Unmovable. Like the giant aircraft carrier trying to change direction... to get any thing moving forward there is nearly impossible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rather then a defensive posture to altering workflows consider that change breeds innovation.

I have been working at QVC full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The best call center environment ever. Lots of parking. Very clean facility. Well lit and well equipped. Nice décor. Good cafeteria. Respectful security.

    Cons

The customers call to vent, rant, yell, and abuse the CSR's. The customers treat the telephone as a means of receiving hours of vicarious gratification, irrespective of any problem resolution. Performance standards have built in contradictions: Call handling time is measured and must be at a minimum, but customers must be allowed to talk long past the point of any relevancy and cannot be interrupted, even when the conversation is irrelevant or even inflammatory.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow CSRs to provided better documentation of call content and report when and how customers are being abusive. Customer know that they can often be very abusive because CSRs have little defense.
