Pros
Good pay and benefits,
Time off was a plus.
Very good bonuses
A great place to learn
Cons
Highly political work environment.
Doing a great job was not a factor in getting promoted if you were "in" with management.
Bad managers were just moved around instead of being demoted or let go.
Management is asleep at the wheel.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote only qualified employees.
Place a higher premium on developing employees
Pros
Great people with room to grow in the org. Good life and work balance, great benefits with good pay. overall a great place
Cons
Company is in Chapter 11 and liquidating the company assets. It was definitely a child to the parent company in Germany. A lot of red tape with no consideration for its subsidiaries.
Advice to Senior Management
Good luck in the future as this should be a great learning experience for all involved.
Pros
Very process oriented German company. The work environment was very nice - technical tools supplied - allowed you to get the job done.
Cons
The NA senior management team drove this company down. Most were imperialist and lost touch with the reality of the business. The company has gone into insolvancy -- it is a shame, as there were many very good people employed not only in Cary, but in Richmond. This company's downfall was a direct reflection of lack of leadership -- although blame will be put on the economy - competitive pricing by Samsung.....
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership must return to accountability and responsibility.
Pros
My colleages were some of the best human beings on planet earth
Cons
Upper management's inability to make a profit
Advice to Senior Management
Retire before you run another great company into the ground
Pros
Qimonda offered great benefits, great pay, a good location and a high tech environment. The Richmond plant (actually in Sandston, VA) was a great location.
Cons
Poor cash management in a down economy led the company into bankruptcy. I think Qimonda could have survived under more resourceful and thrifty management.
Advice to Senior Management
Please do not run another company like you did Qimonda. Save some money instead of living month to month. Be open and honest with your employees.
Pros
Relaxed comfortable environment, challenging projects, great people, good management and directors
Cons
Lean Six Sigma, Chapter 11, inability of leadership to make changes before forecast financial crisis struck
Advice to Senior Management
Make the hard decisions earlier and save your company.
Pros
Opportunities to work on high speed state of the art graphics memories
Pleasant work atmosphere
Extensive CAD tools to support development
Cons
Too much focus on finding the perfect solution to everything
Too many business processes and checklists
Not enough focus on improving the engineering staff rather than the tools and procedures
Advice to Senior Management
Empower the engineers to make improvements and methodology changes rather than handing it down from upper management and consulting firms.
Pros
Benefits (time off, bonuses), high-tech company, interesting work. Good co-workers (at mid-to-lower levels).
Cons
It was so poorly managed that it's now out of business...
Advice to Senior Management
Go get a job; we have to now thanks to you! I'd say more but I know you won't listen anyway.
Pros
Very young and dynamic staff. Very good atmosphere and communication in the low levels of company. Cutting edge DRAM interface technology.
Cons
Upper management was not qualified and took the company in a dramatic downfall while cashing out bonuses through screen companies. No respect shown for employees at termination of employment.
Advice to Senior Management
Management should get back to school to learn basics of company strategy and market. Even basic level strategy reading would have taught them lessons.
Pros
- Vacation Benefits
- High level of responsibility and exposure to critical business issues.
- Competitive Pay /bonus structure and initial benefits during recruiting
Cons
Poor Managment skills
Poor employee development
Advice to Senior Management
Need to be honest and show integrity when comunicating status to employees, eliminate beauracracy, and good ole boy network, and have more diversity in senior leadership
