A company in reverse...

Business Analyst (Former Employee)

I worked at QinetiQ North America full-time for more than 5 years

ProsCutting edge technology focused on military and security solutions. Great benefits (unlike most offered today). Flexible work schedules. Casual work environment. Access to a wealth of professional development training courses.

ConsBusiness development needs to be improved. Company strategic vision needs to be streamlined across the business units.

Advice to Senior ManagementAcquiring a bunch of companies and trying to create a stronger portfolio only works if the CEO is on the same page. Divesting all of your acquisitions and going in reverse is not the way to move forward.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great company to work for. They take care of their employees

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Reston, VA

I have been working at QinetiQ North America full-time for more than 3 years

ProsThey have a good balance between work and your personal life. I feel that I am paid well and the benefits package is good. Each team I've been a part of has been a pleasure.

ConsI think business development needs to be improved. The company has a hard time winning new contracts. I've seen senior leadership come and go, which is not very comforting.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease work on creating more opportunities and winning more contracts in order to grow the company.

Spiraling out of control & can't decide what it wants to be

Senior Administration (Current Employee)
Waltham, MA

I have been working at QinetiQ North America full-time for more than 5 years

ProsFree coffee and tea all day. Reasonable benefits package.

ConsBy far, the most dysfunctional place I've ever worked. This company will dumb you down!

Advice to Senior ManagementStop promoting unqualified personnel. Stop handing out Vice President titles like candy. Your management team is out of control with severely inflated egos, which would be OK if they were talented, but their only talent seems to be balancing politics. START paying attention to the truly talented people within the organization -- these are the people that will make the company a success...these are also the people that are rapidly resigning.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Senior Structural Engineer (Current Employee)
Huntsville, AL

I have been working at QinetiQ North America full-time for more than 5 years

ProsDecent pay and benefits. Not the best in the industry, but midlevel.

ConsManagement is clueless when it comes to understanding the next government cutbacks or layoffs. Employees are way below profit margin and ensuring the that executives receive their bonuses every year. When you hire in negotiate for the best salary you can. Don't expect a raise for years to come and if one does come it will be substandard.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep your eyes and ears open for the next government shoe to drop. Be reactive rather than proactive.

Solid Defense Contractor

Senior Program Analyst (Current Employee)
San Diego, CA

I have been working at QinetiQ North America full-time for more than 3 years

ProsHave worked for QNA in San Diego for 3+ years supporting Dept. of Navy. Company leadership has given us a lot of leeway to do our work and influence our clients and encourages business development. Leadership has developed good relationships with competitive small business. Salary is in the middle of the road for the industry with above average benefit options.

ConsUnfortunately, DoD has suffered with the economy, budget, and current administration so work has tightened and so have budgets. We were not given any merit increase in salary (not even cost of living). Very difficult to move up or laterally in the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementReinstate merit increases or bonuses for stand-out employees, especially those of us who continue to bring in or expand work.
