I have been working at Quad/Graphics full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Modern communications and corporate training/scheduling. Most of this is done online through e-mail and through the company website. Facilities are clean and organized with an increased focus on maintenance over previous corporate owners.

    Cons

While some of the training mentioned above is available online, the rest requires to come back into work on days off for brief(1 hour to 4 hour) training. Some paid and some not paid. Local Management occasionally ignores state labor laws with the refrain("we'll fire anyone that sues us."

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should never have temps as long as we do(over 6 mos).

I have been working at Quad/Graphics full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    - at least you have a job right? no, you can do better.
    - motivation to find a better employer or entrepreneurship.
    - I feel good when I get out of work.

    Cons

-Management always nervous of being fired so they take it out on employees
    -Low pay
    - Atmosphere is depressing because nobody cares
-I get nauseous every day I walk into work

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Joel Quadracci should resign. I understand buying companies to acquire growth by acquisition but alienating your workers doesn't equate to dollars and definitely not morality.

    Pros

You work alongside other over worked employees. Sharing your dislike for the work conditions and also the company in general. If you are a hard worker you will be acknowledged and placed on a faster paced printing press with less help.

    Cons

12 hour shifts. You are supposed to get two 15 minute breaks but you'll be lucky to get one. Work atmosphere is very poor.

    Pros

Well its a pay check and if you want to work non stop overtime you can make a ok living

    Cons

Company seems to have no real plan at the lower levels. Most of the Manager don't really have the right skill set for the job. constant fear of job being eliminated. everyone is out for there self. main due to the environment management has created. What training? is a common phrase I like to use. The printing industry is down sizing Oh and a complete Cult mentality

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You would have to start from scratch and hire non Quad people to fill the positions that are actually qualified to be Managers.

    Pros

Only work 7/14 days. Not a tough job mentally but can get very physical.

    Cons

They are 12hr shifts. Pay is minimal. The training provided to you leaves something to be desired.

I have been working at Quad/Graphics full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Ok benefits and ok company. They try to develop their people by developing various classes. Good people at the local level who are talented.

    Cons

Challenging industry with a lot of politics within the organization. Difficult to navigate through the politics. Price cuts in the industry make it very unstable, especially if you are not one of the original plants.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The value wheel is a great concept, but it has become words on paper and many within the organization do not support the values the company is so proudly to display. Being a facility outside the original WI plants s not a great place to be and senior mgmt is so far removed, they have no idea how difficult it can be to navigate through it all.

    Pros

Quad is a good company if you are hired in directly by them. Training and Safety are top notch.

    Cons

Being brought in to Quad as an employee by an acquisition is tough. The culture of the company does not engender it to people who do not start their career with them.
