Using U.S. Greencard Application Process to Keep Salaries Low

Sales Manager-Mexico (Current Employee) Long Island City, NY

ProsThey hire immigrants and they have a very diverse non-management staff, mostly composed of kind, talented individuals.

ConsWho needs to offshore their business when they can hire using the U.S. visa application process right here in NYC at 60% or less industry wages. It's not only cheap, it's also a captive labor pool, as they are sponsoring a good percentage of their employees' green cards and thus those employees are legally barred from obtaining other jobs.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe line between reprehensible labor practices and criminal behavior is a very thin one.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Friendly environment, good team interactions

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Long Island City, NY

ProsEveryone is very friendly, you can ask anyone for help and they'll do what they can. Learning, trying new things, and coming up with unique solutions is encouraged. Lots of flexibility in which projects you can work on. Reviews weren't scheduled, but managers kept close track of employee's progress, in a positive way.

ConsThere was always more work than people to do it. Sometimes seemed to be a lack of a uniting strategy. Customer service was not emphasized. Very poor system for collecting and maintaining proprietary knowledge which existed in the heads of a few senior employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementIncrease focus on internal documentation. Create measurable goals for each department and regularly review progress towards them.

    The company is downsizing

Accountant (Current Employee) Long Is City, NY

ProsThe company has many interesting products to the market. The co-workers are very nice and welcome. The senior managers are willing to hear of your thought and opinions. The place is laid back and the vacation benefit is excellent. The job is challenging from time to time.

ConsThe job in accounting department is overload and most of the employees have to stay overtime without pay.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease appreciate a little bit more in your employees

    Overall neutral experience

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Long Island City, NY

ProsThe folks out at QLC(as they call it) are a tight knit community, very secure in their dealings, very friendly and can make you feel right at home. The atmosphere is very casual and friendly, only the senior members ever dress in formals, and that too only because they want to. Everyone knows everyone else, the office is neat and cosy, and people are very helpful and cosiderate. All decisions are transparent.

ConsThe location of the office is in the middle of nowhere.
Less staff leads to more gossip. And there is ALWAYS gossip.
It's a mid size company, the pay is just okay.
Not a lot of room for growth.

Advice to Senior ManagementI can't really think of anything at the moment. Probably expanding more in the IT department? That's about it from me.
