I have been working at Qualcomm full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

First off, this review applies to the Boulder office. Other offices may be different.

    Good work/life balance
    Competitive compensation
Work *can* be very interesting when working on cutting edge technology
    Smart co-workers

    Cons

Little insight into project health - it may be good one day, then cancelled the next.
Can be difficult working for a lead in a remote office.

I have been working at Qualcomm full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Have good flexibility in choosing the work quantity (of course will decide your growth rate), reasonable stock awards, but can be varying year over year. But the open door culture in the office encourages faster and better learning.

    Cons

Difficult to establish yourself if you don't push yourself, and the competition is pretty heavy. Difficult to straight forward feedback/comments from the management (have to ask explicitly for feedback). The salary gap is pretty large from one level to another, but I guess that creates a difference in the work experience. Other than that, I don't see anything specifically negative.

I have been working at Qualcomm full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The pay is excellent and you really are working with the cream of the crop, best of the best, etc. The engineers and designers there are amazing.

    Cons

The company is cutting the employees' benefits and perks a little every year. When I started a decade ago, everyone got an office, our pay was in the top %ile, insurance was top notch, there were device and education subsidies. Over time, each of these is vanishing; our salaries are median at best, our insurance is okay but not great, our device subsidies have vanished. And the list goes on. It's still an ok company to work for, but it is coasting on a previous reputation, and isn't nearly as great as it once was.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you're going to keep trying to attract top tier talent, you need to think about getting back to the way you had it a few years ago. Give people a reason to choose you over Google and Amazon.

    Best Summer Ever

I worked at Qualcomm as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Qualcomm has a great internship program. They flew us all out and paid for our living expenses, and also flew us out to San Diego for a weekend. There is also a lot of interaction with your manager/mentor (may depend on your team) and most interns are given projects with an impact.

    Cons

There is a good amount of bureaucracy, which is to be expected from such a large company.

Too many unproductive meetings. As an embedded software engineer - don't work yourself up the ladder and into a corner if you love doing actual development!
