Current Employee – been working at Qualcomm full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – -we have some really smart people here.
-you can still work on really cutting edge techno.
Cons – -do not promote from inside.
-no other major company around San Diego. Gives management to an easy position for salary/promotion when employee have no choices but to stay.
- with the recent employment boom we end up with lots of people coming here to retire.. and political pple
- parking is a mess. You won't find parking here unless you park 4 blocks away.
- office is a mess, we did growth to fast had are now 3 in one small office.
Advice to Senior Management – - promote from inside.
- it is not because you have a PHD that you are smart or should be hired.

Former Employee – worked at Qualcomm full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – They do provide great benefits
Cons – When you have a medical condition that requires consistent accommodations expect it to be challenged. They will fight you until they are able to terminate you.

Current Employee – been working at Qualcomm full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – -great benefits
-there are some really good projects, if you can land one
-I have worked with some people who are really fantastic, both personally and professionally. Very smart.
Cons – -there is a lot of pressure to work quickly due to someone else's bad planning.
-easy to get overloaded with multiple projects
-some projects are just soul killing
-they have been cutting back on flexibility, like "no standing telecommute days"
-I have come across some people who are "dead wood", that is, just not getting fired.
-The Golden Handcuffs, meaning the benefits can be too good to leave, even though you want to
Advice to Senior Management – This is not the time to start cutting flexibility, and in the age of Skype you should look into more of it, not less. Better project management can save everyone a lot of headaches with up front scoping and planning. You should think deeply about the financial incentives you give; are you really motivating people, or are you only getting them to stick around until vest? People are more motivated by rewarding work that helps them learn and feel accomplished more than in money. You already give them enough of that. Empowering people will get you much farther. Put the money in conferences and professional development. Put the money in team building. Put the money in child care. Build the people, not the wealth.

Current Employee – been working at Qualcomm full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Great perks, people, work environment. Management encourages a great work life balance. Extra benefits like dental, medical etc. are amazing. People are friendly, happy, and helpful.
Cons – None - this is a great place to work. You can grow your career here, and hard work will always pay off. You can come in and leave whenever you want. On site facilities such as multiple gyms, pool etc make coming to work fun!
Advice to Senior Management – Keep it up! Maintain an open and honest culture. Encourage a good work life balance and a culture of innovation so that Qualcomm may continue to be the leader in wireless in the future as it is today.

Current Employee – been working at Qualcomm as an intern for less than a year
Pros – 1. Great Intern treatment.
2. Responsibility to do something the team depends on and not just some random testing stuff.
3. San Diego..!! :p
Cons – 1. The pay during the internship was adequate but the full time offer was below par.
Advice to Senior Management – You guys are doing great with the entire experience. The only thing lacking is the compensation (which could be improved to par on other similar companies like nVidia)

Former Employee – worked at Qualcomm full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Culture is friendly, giving, welcoming... employee development and learning opportunities are plentiful. Pay is mostly competitive. Many pluses and would absolutely recommend as a great place to work.
Cons – Mid-upper management politics among certain groups cause discontent among staff - and executives continue to not take action to address it. Life balance is at times hard to create due to heavy workloads.
Advice to Senior Management – Take action to enable teams to work together effectively - open lines of communication and partnership among the organization. Go back to the "we are one company" motto and provide support to those working to move the company forward and not just one product or technology.
