    Surrounded by smart people

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Santa Clara, CA

ProsAlways learning from people around you; management makes (mostly) smart decisions; can get a lot done in a short period of time.

Constough to stand out from the crowd; stock has been stuck at 50 for years; pay is below industry standard; CDMA Technologies is the "slave pit" of QC.

Good benefits, slow culture, long roads to promotions...

Senior Systems Analyst (Current Employee) San Diego, CA

    Pros- Good benefits
    - Calm culture
    - Generally nice people

    Cons- Decent facilities
    - Salary packages not competent for non-engineering (non-core programming) employees
    - Very slow culture (need to be more action oriented)
    - Low visibility of career progression (slow promotions cycles - 4-5 yrs on an avg!)

Advice to Senior ManagementPay more attention to where people want to be in the next 3-5 yrs. Mentor program is existing but invisible. Managers sometimes try to micromanage. Go social.

    low pay, lots of pressure.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) San Diego, CA

ProsOverall Qualcomm is an Okay place to work. Everything depends on your team lead. If you are with a good lead, you are fine. Otherwise, life is not easy.

ConsLots of pressure, hard to get promoted as there are lots of competition. The number of people who can get promoted is very limited. Many times people in my team have to work overtime to meet deadlines.

Good technical experience, but little advancement opportunities

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) San Jose, CA

ProsAtheros provided good opportunities to get technically involved in various projects.
The group that I worked in had a good overall rapport.

ConsAt Atheros, there were only few opportunities for professional growth or advancement within the company. Management was unable to resolve issues that arose due to personal conflicts between managers, and individuals suffered from this.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more critical in reviewing midlevel managers effectiveness. Be more proactive in resolving potential conflicts to prevent potential adverse effects to individual engineering careers.
