I have been working at Qualcomm full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Qualcomm is a well-run company. It gives its employees flexibility to explore new ideas while providing a general framework in which to get things done. Management is clear about communicating objectives and expectations.

    Cons

The current business environment is not as great for cell phone chips as expected, and the company is suffering some pain because of this, but Qualcomm is well-positioned for when market corrections are done.

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in future technologies. Continue to provide an environment where great employees can do great things. Do everything you can to retain the best employees.

I worked at Qualcomm full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The Benefits are good including for your family.

    Cons

Ubber political and nepotistic. Long time employees most are incompetent-not gaining like position elsewhere are so knowledgeable to navigate the politics-they are successful there- SD corp staff should be cut, too bloated and inefficient.

    Advice to Management

Be more mindful of acquisition staff experiences-leverage it to gain best practices-the company might actually be more efficient which is sorely needed. The company is highly inefficient, the next HP.

I have been working at Qualcomm full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Smart Colleagues and great chance to work on some of the most advanced communication technologies. Health Insurance benefits are great. Salaries are average to the bay area.

    Cons

There is some inertia as in all big companies. Some processes are a time-burden. Work can get a little monotonous as you work on the same topic for multiple chips. The retention rate is quite high, so it is getting a little top-heavy. Promotions past the senior-staff level become hard.

I have been working at Qualcomm full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good learning in low level embedded software, Linux kernel and other core concepts.

    Cons

    1. I feel that the time commitment to complete a project by upper management, is way too much that engineers end up being idle without proceeding to the next task. 2. Salaries in the bay area could be a little higher or atleast on par with market
