I worked at Quality Food part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

My store was a ton of fun to work at. Mangament really knew what they were doing, and was really good about giving me the hours that i wanted to work. I was currently in school during my time there, and they were very accomidating. The best part by far was the people who worked their. Everyone was super friendly and nice, none of that glumness you get at other stores. I go back every once in a while, and everyone is still so happy. Amazing place to work.

    Cons

standing for eight hours is killer on your feet, and there were some pretty dumb corporate rules. But that's to be expected

I have been working at Quality Food full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

great benefits, usually flexible hours, amazing people. the management listens when you have a need or complaint and they always try to accommodate special requests. if you are a student they patiently work around your schedule and push you to be better.

    Cons

you work in a grocery store. the pay caps out unless you go into management. you have to deal with all sorts of customers. hours and shifts are usually based on seniority unless you are in a specific department.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

remember your compassion and empathy when working with your employees. avoid being "clickish"

    I worked at Quality Food

    Pros

They have decent pay and really good benefits
They are also very accommodating to your schedule
Coworkers are for the mos part fun to work with

    Cons

You don't really develop any professional skills
It won't necessarily advance your career unless you want to work within the company
Most positions are union based and you have to pay union dues but again this gives you the good benefits and higher than average pay
    Customers are snobs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I rarely saw any management unless there were complaints, maybe show your face in good times as well? No huge complaints.

    I worked at Quality Food

    Pros

the city where I worked had a pretty good union benefit package. that was changing for the worse every three years, though. everything was going more and more profit/loss. great if you own stock, not so good if you just work there.

    Cons

inane rules, people promoted based on nothing other than who they were sleeping with; going to more part timers just to cut costs -- so forget about having a life with your family, because it isn't going to happen when you have to work 6 part-time shifts in two stores just to get 32 hours in a week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None.
