Technology firm does not financially support professional development.

Instructional Designer (Current Employee)
Englewood, CO

I have been working at Quantum Corporation full-time for more than 5 years

ProsManagement asks us every year to list all of our desired conferences and professional development activities, such as attending a class to learn a new application.

ConsUnfortunately, most non-management staff were unable to attend a conference or to take a class to improve their knowledge and skills, because the money was not built into the corporate budget.

Advice to Senior ManagementCarve out some money in each year's budget for professional development of non-management staff.

Excellent technology, a bit too much of a niche to have the company scale

Sales Representative (Former Employee)
San Francisco, CA

I worked at Quantum Corporation full-time for more than 5 years

ProsManagement seems to have the right mix of finance, engineering, and marketing skills.

ConsSlow to grow and add newer technology. the company was in a great position to expand into larger data center ILM and data management solutions, but hasn't capitalized on the goodwill they have from their current customers.

Procedures and attitude need to be adjusted towards longevity of the company while still maintaining customer service.

Technical Support Engineer (Former Employee)
Englewood, CO

I worked at Quantum Corporation

ProsThe best reason to work for Quantum Corporation is the advancement opportunity is available if you do have the talent. There was not as much educational degree bureaucracy here compared to other places. They still valued education and offered a $5,000 reimbursement for education related to working for Quantum, which would of course help you advance there as well as other places.

ConsManagement across the organization seemed to drive behavior which was not necessarily supportive of those who wish to do the job correctly. If you have a good work ethic and want to do things correctly, this cultural behavior makes it hard to see through the game and feel as though you are doing the right thing even when you are doing the right thing.

Advice to Senior ManagementAdvice to upper management would be to properly enforce Service Level Agreements to customers. Less money would be lost this way. Also, choose vendors who do not rip you off when reworking your refurbished equipment. There are many cases where a product was sent out for replacement, and had the same defect it was supposed to be refurbished for. Keep on the same track with employee relations and strengthen values there, it seems to be on the right track. Give more support to those who are truly doing the job correctly, and start tracking metrics correctly. Correct metrics will automatically drive the correct behavior. Do the research and try to figure out what the data is really telling you.

Good company, good experience and team atmosphere!

Sales Representative (Current Employee)
Seattle, WA

I have been working at Quantum Corporation

ProsEveryone works together well to achieve common goal of being profitable company. Company understands flexibility of working remotely which can be awesome, but conversely can be a bad thing as you are expected to work extra hours occasionally. Good mid - level management support and leadership.

ConsInside Sales team is looked down upon from upper management and field reps. Compensation team is a complete mess. More often than not you get delayed on commission payments due to finance not having sufficient system for proper credit.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement should look into taking care of sales employees and hiring better outside reps. Too much turnover due to lack of extra incentive pay for the inside sales team, and field reps get put on pedestal from executives.

An OK place to work

Manager (Former Employee)
Englewood, CO

I worked at Quantum Corporation

ProsQuantum goes to some effort to be competitive with salaries. Among the employees there is support for each others work efforts

ConsNot really different from any from anywhere else, management pushes unrealistic deadlines and then expects weekend and holiday work to make the deadlines

Advice to Senior Managementmanagement needs a better grasp on aggressive or stretch goals and unrealistic marks. Also better due diligence in product development
