I have been working at Quantum Fuel Systems full-time

    Pros

The pay was very good and the people were great to work with. A few bad apples, but that is usually the case in most companies. They treated us like adults and so there was no time clock to punch and we were expected to just get our work done. Received ample lunchtime and hours were basic. Nice atmosphere to work in.

    Cons

Management played favorites and there were a few layoffs with no real understanding of how these people were chosen. Some key players were laid off and their worth not discovered until it took its toll on the company. People who were detrimental to the company were allowed to flourish and people who were valuable were sent packing; all due to poor top management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Practice excellent management skills and make sure that the people you have in your company have that company's best interest in mind. Take the time to check to make sure that middle management is doing what they are supposed to be doing and don't keep the bad ones and lose the good ones.

I have been working at Quantum Fuel Systems full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great benefits, stock options, extended holiday shutdown, recent exponential growth, great long term career company. Very busy, great coworkers, competitive pay. Many employees have been here over a decade or two. Lots of highly intelligent people here.

    Cons

Sometimes gets very busy with workload but still fun to juggle it all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Getting back to annual raises and stock options has been nice now that the economy has turned around. More frequent praise for workers is needed.

I have been working at Quantum Fuel Systems full-time

    Pros

Working at Quantum as an engineer provides unique opportunities to be exposed to new technologies in hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as other alternate fuel energy projects.
Not restricted as in larger companies, to handling a small piece of the project
Team environment is excellent, among and between the different engineering groups
    Salary compensation above industry norm

    Cons

There is not so much work stability as found in larger companies, as Quantum is in many ways a startup company that is still looking to break thru and be a profitable company.

    Positive Outlook
