I have been working at Queensborough Community College full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The best part of this job is working with the students.

    Cons

There are a great deal of expectations, which in reality are deemed more important to the administration that actually teaching! We are expected to do research in our fields, publish in peer reviewed journals, present at national and international conferences (which we have to pay for independently), and take active roles in both departmental and college wide committees, AND show service to our community.....all at a salary that is almost impossible to live on in this community.

    Advice to Management

    Get real!!!

    Pros

The students are great. The actual campus is amazing with rolling hills and views. There are fitness facilities available to faculty and staff for free including the track, gym, and pool.

    Cons

The parking is horrible and that is with paying for a yearly pass in the lots. If you expect to have a place to actually work, you will be disappointed. They just shove everyone anywhere without adequate space, desks, or really anything.
