The work environment is so much fun and everyone is super approachable and nice. People will be wearing sweatshirts to meetings and surf during their lunch breaks.

    Cons

I have been working at Quiksilver part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The people at the retail store are done of the greatest people I've ever worked with. They're all very genuine and want to make sure you grow. The discount is unbeatable, 75% off four things per month and pretty much 50% unlimited discount.

    Cons

It's retail. You'll be working until midnight if you close, or as early as 5am if you work in merch.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on having more things in stock, I swear we could make another $2000 everyday if I didn't have to tell customers we were out of stock so many times.

I worked at Quiksilver part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Training, relaxed atmosphere, friendly co-workers, great merchandise, flexible hours, employee discount

    Cons

Location could've been better, mall rats (kids) being disrespectful, not enough people coming in despite great merchandise that led to store liquidation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better/ smarter advertising, come up with more city-friendly designs for your customers that aren't near the beach, fix the store layout (lights, fixtures, etc.) because it gives off a very dull AND cluttered feeling, offer more promotions

I worked at Quiksilver as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I was an intern at Quiksilver this past spring left the position with an overall average experience. The surf apparel industry is an awesome place to work. The people are genuine, nice, and above all willing to help you in anyway they can.

They understand that as an unpaid intern, you need all the compensation you can get. So, you're able to get your paws on free samples and can take advantage of the employee discount at the campus store. All in all, I enjoyed my time there; but, I do believe that there is a LOT of improvement that should be acted on.

    Cons

All that being said, I feel there needs to be some serious restructuring to the internship program at Quiksilver. As an college intern, you expect to gain experience that prepares you for a post-graduate career. During my time at Quiksilver, I found myself being assigned to grunt work that full-time workers either did not have time to do or had no desire to do them. Don't get me wrong, every position has aggravating duties. However, I feel that interns would greatly benefit to seeing how their work impacts the workflow as the business as a whole.

Luckily, I did have the opportunity to shadow the quarterly company-wide meeting where I got to learn about the company. Other than that opportunity, I did not feel that I learned much professional experience which was very disappointing.
