    Pros

It used to be a great place to work with likeminded people who shared a stoke for the industry.

    Cons

The stock market crashed, then they accidentally hired Andy Moonie to fist... err, "FIX" the company. He laid off almost 800 employees.

    Advice to Management

No advice- everyone I worked with or for is gone now

    Pros

Great company to learn fundamentals of retail. One learns that to strive as a unit one can not depend on a sole individual. Everything must be done accordingly as a team from associates to management. Store discount is great, the people that walk in from all over the world and to get to hear their stories is inspirational, and the coworkers are all great and are like a family or what we like to call Ohana.

    Cons

Constant Micro-management to a certain extent, but is done evidently to strive as a store. Problems are handled very slowly.

    Advice to Management

Have some emotional intelligence everything is not only about the store. Theres only so much an employees can do, stop focusing on the negatives all the time and acknowledge the positives when possible. Employees highly appeciate it and it drives one to continue working hard.

    Pros

free gym inside the work space
    easy going working colegues
    very flexible work schedule

    Cons

    bs assignments
everyone seems to be very protective of their own responsibilities
sometimes seems like faking work is more important than work itself
most people are not surfer's hence "not a surfer's environment"
people's daily routine are very tedious and it shows

    Advice to Management

just learn how to delegate more in quantity (of assignments) and depth (more responsibility). Spread the ambitious feeling of business growth in the work environment.

    Pros

It was a very relaxed atmosphere with a great dynamic between the co workers. Managers and supervisors were really there for you to learn, but treated you as their equals. Great discount. 50% off almost everything and 75% off four items a month

    Cons

    Really mundane tasks
Little to no raise in pay

  7. great workplace with good management, but at the end of the day, it's just another retail shop.

    Pros

by the beach, surf shop with surfboards and accessories, fun co-workers, fairly laid back yet very professional. Great place to have your first job or develop all-around skills in life.

    Cons

climbing up the ladder, the pay, and buying into the company. working in santa moinca means you must either walk 20-30 minutes to work, or pay $5-$14 to work in the city.

    Advice to Management

take care of your people. spend money wisely. focus your energy, time, and money with people that know how to get work done.

    Great work environment.
The managers and associates were awesome people
    Very flexible schedule
    No uniform, just no logos
75% discount on 2 tops and 2 bottoms of your size
    40% discount after that

    Cons

I worked at a tourist mall and people can be hard to deal with

    Advice to Management

Stop punishing your associates for talking on the job when that's all you do.

    Pros

fun company with fun people to work with, 50% discount on clothes, they do employee events before all major holidays.

    Cons

there seems to be very little communication to employees about where the company is headed. it is hard to get answers out of anyone that is not in your immediate work group. everyone seems to be doing their own thing. it seems for a company that is not doing well financially, there is an awful lot of travel going on. this is a global company and there is never information sent out to employees about what is going on in other offices around the world.

    Advice to Management

management could do a better job to make the company more cohesive. it would be nice to see the executives around the office more, rather than in their suites all day long.

    Pros

If you work for a manager who has the old school, Quik Ohana (family) foundation:
    - Life enriching
    - Good work-life balance
    - Flexible schedule
    - Fun vibe
    - Friendly, family like work environment
    - Good discounts (75% off a couple times a quarter, and 40-50% off depending on Outlet or Full Price)

    Cons

If you would have asked me 3-4 years ago about Quik, I would have told you it was the best place I have ever worked. Today though, the culture is dying. They used to be all about "Ohana," both on an employee and customer level. Those days are over. It is all about making money now, and upper management does not care about who they have to run over to do so. I would not be surprised, sadly, if the retail side of this brand has disappeared in the next couple of years.
    - Dying culture
    - Uncertain future
    - Poor communication
    - Lay offs and store closures
    - Poor pay
    - Poor employee recognition from upper management to the store level
    - Poor support, which can lead to poor training
    - Lots of long term (5+ year) employees leaving
    - Low employee morale
    - Poor location choices

    Advice to Management

Remember Aloha? That thing that we didn't just used to drone on about on conference call, but used to live and act upon in our stores? Get back to our roots. Get back to being believable as a surf brand because we embody the culture that we love and support, instead of being a corporate beast who just cares about the stock prices, and forgets why we're really there. Take care of your Ohana, and they will take care of you.

Great discounts on new clothing items

    Great exposure for young professionals

    Cons

    Lack of emphasis on education
People do not take their work serious
Low pay compared to other companies in the area
