I have been working at Quiksilver full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great environment working with a great group of people that work hard and love the brands. Working with the people here makes everything else worth it

    Cons

Higher ups seem to be a little secretive about where the company is going either because they don't know or don't want to tell people. Could be because the company is doing so poorly

I have been working at Quiksilver full-time

    Pros

Characteristically California surfer style and aesthetic, close proximity to the Huntington Beach surf, 50% discount on merchandise, paid holiday vacation, and casual dress (flip-flops and board shorts) worn in the office.

    Cons

Very low company moral as a result of poor management, high turnover, layoffs, restructuring at top level (2 CEO's in one year is the strongest indication, and little to no support from Human Resources. The social climate is toxic for those who don't follow the status quo and it seems to be an extension of college fraternity/sorority life for the majority. Only the "cool kids" survive! Additionally, employees and managers can be found inebriated from a night of partying the day after. Lateral movement often occurs for those who can crush beers with upper management but are not fully qualified or ready for more responsibility. There isn't a clear line in the sand which allows for sexual harassment, office bullying, HR violations committed by management, and poor work ethic (employees can be found watching YouTube or leaving the workplace for extended amounts of time). Overall, there is zero confidentiality, accountability, and professionality. With layoffs, smaller teams have to absorb more work with no pay raise & overtime is not an option.

    Advice to Management

Most management shouldn't be in management. It's similar to teachers with tenure, poor management are given a sense of permanence which perpetuates the decline. I would advise intensive management training and a reevaluation of who is hired. The Human Resources team needs to be restructured as well. They do not serve as a resource but more as enablers of deplorable behavior.

    I worked at Quiksilver full-time

    Pros

The only Pro is the Employee discount. Standard benefits for health and vacation. No 401K match.

    Cons

Poor management, favortism from management to the max (for a certain department I know), big turnovers (7 people quit in 8 months in one department I know), too many layers of managers; company needs to let go couple worthless VPs (a manager or a supervisor could do the work of this particular VP I know). Company's debt is phenomenal; thus, it needs to cut cost by eliminating some of these high positions with not so much talent.

    Advice to Management

Company is too busy to stay afloat. But HR needs to spend time to understand why the turnovers are so high for one department.

    Pros

Fantastic group of people to work with; no micro-managers.

    Cons

    We got a little understaffed.

    Advice to Management

Give Kelly Slater as much as he wants to come back.

I have been working at Quiksilver part-time

    Pros

Great coworkers, chill vibes, lots of fun

    Cons

horrible pay (minimum wage), hours were recently cut

    Advice to Management

management does all they can to keep workers motivated, at least at my store. They try to be the best examples and great friends.

    I worked at Quiksilver full-time

    Pros

The flexibility is nice and so are a lot of the employees in-store. It's a nice stepping stone.

    Cons

Quiksilver is a very unorganized company with a high turn over rate in the corporate field. I would not recommend anyone to work here. Not a lot of growth opportunity. And benefits are more and more slim due to all of the cuts the company is making.

    Advice to Management

Be good to your employees because that's the only way your stores will run.

I have been working at Quiksilver full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Used to be a fun atmosphere to work at. Definitely a great place to start your career but not great long term.

    Cons

Very top heavy management with poor communication and leadership.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to step up and communicate better with mid and bottom level employees. It's hard to follow a leader you have never met before.
