Pros
Good competitive pay in comparison to similar jobs. Vert experienced coworkers. Ability for personal development is fair. Hands on business style.
Cons
Difficult to manage work life balance. Favoritism is shown. Sense of mistrust among leadership and regular employees. So many people have been there for so long that there are tight knit circles. Hard for new people to find a home.
Advice to Senior Management
Open up and show people they are welcome. Respond to concerns in a timely manner. You don't need a survey for everything. Make employees think you cate about them not just your bottom line.
Pros
Great benefits package, 401K, personal life benefits and reimbursement programs, flexible hours, great cafe (QRTP-Plaza), on-site fitness center and medical center, brand recognition
Cons
Decentalized/matrix management structure - you have many bosses telling you what to do and demanding work. Long hours - employee utilization is over 100%, billable and non-billable departments - some work hard to make the money while others burn it up.
Pros
CRO is in a slightly better condition than the big pharmaceuticals.
Cons
None. Would be happier is paid more.
Pros
-Work Worth Doing, great feeling that you are contributing to a better tomorrow. Good to know the work you do affects the health of billions worldwide.
-Good pay
-Great benefits
-Management (dependent on dept. you work in) somewhat flexible with outside work requests (i.e. doctor appts., leaving early for family related functions, working from home when kids are sick)
-Very professional atmosphere
-Second to none in IT, very creative/ innovative
Cons
-Work-life balance is lacking.
-Not directly told, but expected to put in as many hours as needed to get the job done. Expect 50-60 hour work weeks.
-Business units make promises to sponsors without realistic understanding of man power needed. Difficult position to be in as a company because if you tell the truth you may lose the sponsor's business where as another CRO will lie to get the business. Bottom line, resources (i.e. competent, motivated man power) need to be in place. This is not currently the situation. Many roles have merged, 1 person may be expected to do the work of 2-3.
-CTMS investment not looking like a good step for company moving forward. System has created 3 times the amount of manual entry it was expected to cut down on.
-Promotions can occur based on inconsistent decision making. Can be frustrating as a contractor to see less qualified individuals be promoted around you.
Advice to Senior Management
-Listen to your people. They do the job everyday and know what is needed to do quality work.
-Hire more competent, motivated staff, and cut ties with ineffective leadership who are content with the status quo.
-Make decisions based on long term growth, don't be reactive and ensure staff are supported. The customer is not always right.
Pros
Team Work is used in my department, very well
Cons
None so far.....Contract bases is longer than expected
Pros
Benefits and treatment are great
Cons
No clear way to advance. Management pacify questions of promotions. Great place to start, not stay.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on growing the talent you already have.
Pros
Good salary-bonus structure, excellent benefits.
Cons
No loyalty to former employees laid off due to their not renewing contracts. They would rather hire new employees at a cheaper salary than former employees who were laid off due to contracts ending.
Advice to Senior Management
Appreciate the people who made you the money!
Pros
Some extremely intelligent people work here . Nearly impossible for some people to get fired.
Cons
1) Pay is horrible. People are constantly leaving to go to other companies that will actually pay them well and give them the appropriate job title
2) Upper management doesn't seem to care or do much
3) Company discourages double promotions or even promotions through group transfer so good luck ever getting anything
4) You always do work that is a level or two above your title yet don't get compensated for it - this is an overarching theme throughout Quintiles
5) Nearly impossible for some people to get fired
Advice to Senior Management
Pay people appropriately and they won't be looking at other companies for jobs. Keeping your employees happy is the key to having your company run smoothly and efficiently. If you continue to pay people below what the TRUE market value is, you'll be stuck with the bottom of the barrel. You get what you pay for.
Pros
1) Career Growth prospects
2) Growing fast
Cons
1) No work-life balance
2) unstructured and lack good processes.
Advice to Senior Management
Moving too fast and focusing on on short term gains. Need to focus on long term strategy. Also there are more managers than workers.
Pros
This is a company dedicated to a higher purpose, speeding life saving medicines to patients that need them. It is the company that founded the CRO space. And Quintiles is the #1 company in pharameuctical services. The challenges presented to the team at Quintiles span the global and touch important social, political and moral issue.
Cons
The work is consuming. One needs to manage work-life balance actively.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to communicate the vision and goals of the company to employees at the ground level.
