    Pros

The company offers excellent career progression, good management team and flexible working conditions. I worked from home in London which is encouraged - very global and forward thinking company.

    Cons

Matrix org structure, somewhat political. You are expected to work very hard - evening and weekends however your efforts are always rewarded.

I have been working at Quintiles full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good for getting exposure to the industry, generally positive workforce, Matrix style of working allowing exposure to different areas of the business.

    Cons

Developmental goals/plans not always followed through
Lack of investment in external training and development
Competitors are prepared to pay more for experience staff

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on staff retention, through adequate training and development and appropriate salary increases in line with what competitors are prepared to offer.

I worked at Quintiles (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of nice people to work with, very experienced. Good SOP's and systems and relatively easy to find the help you need. Most line managers are pretty competent and keen to help support you and take time to do that. Training and on-the-job experience is very good - ideal place to 'learn your trade'.

    Cons

Sometimes long working hours. Pay is not great at all and payrises for promotions pretty laughable. No real attempts made to retain staff or compete on salary which is a shame as employees don't feel so wanted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make pay more competitive - wild variation in salary and external offers are way higher than average salary of loyal staff. Not competing on salary means constantly losing the best staff to competitors which is a waste of the investment in upskilling staff.

I have been working at Quintiles full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Able to make decisions and get the job done. Good structure across the globe. Well rewarded for a job done well.

    Cons

In order to progress up through the company you will need to locate, at least for a while to the US. Expenses system is cumbersome and convoluted.

Great if you are a shareholder, not great if you are an employee outside key locations

I have been working at Quintiles full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

There is the potential to move up through the ranks, but you have to luck out for this to happen.
Work life balance is good and appears to be genuinely supported instead of being a power point bullet.
Company funded pension & health care is good.
    The pay is good.
Individual managers are good and show dedication, but the overall corporate culture seems to only ask whether something will increase shareholder value or not. If it doesn't do this in the short term then it doesn't happen.

    Cons

They seem intent on getting rid of people and replacing them with cheaper people. This can make sense sometimes, but not when you lose entire knowledge banks which have built up over decades in Q. There doesn't seem to be any way to help cement your position and you live in fear of the next round of cuts.
Travel is almost non-existent if you are in the lower grades. If it gets approved at all, it could be after you were due to travel and after you have cancelled your plans.
Global communications are poor, with incorrectly targeted communications telling us about things we don't understand and can't change, and not telling us about things that affect us directly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in your people, stop treating them as resources and expenses. They are people with skills that built your company and fund your bonuses.

I worked at Quintiles full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Nice office
    Parking
    Starbucks
Quarterly free lunches, there would be events that were done to 'build morale' within the office

    Cons

Lots of back biting and two faced colleagues who were just just out for themselves to impress the manager. It got so bad to the point employees used to make things up about another colleague.
Management were not trust worthy, you would ask to keep things confidential however this would never stay between you and the manager and other colleagues of yours would get to know your business.
They tell you that there are other opportunities within Quintiles but when the time comes they don't help you at all, in fact block you. HR always side with management even if you have a strong case. Seems almost impossible to get support

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to your employees.
Do not set unrealistic targets and then blame the employee for not being able to achieve them.
    Do not give false promises
