Pros
Skill development opportunity, great perks and flexible working hours.
Cons
Base salary range from ocean to mountain and folks at the ocean level were affected by many lately applied policies.
Advice to Senior Management
Review the base salary for the folks at the ocean level before you lose them.
Pros
Benefits, vacation time earned for tenure.
Cons
Opportunity for growth and salary increases based on individual contributions.
Pros
The work is challenging. Many changes are occurring in the industry impacting our area of knowledge which is BSS-Billing Support Systems.
Cons
Pension and health care plans have changed considerably while I have worked at Qwest.
Advice to Senior Management
Overall, IT management appears focused on the tasks at hand to provide value to the business. Many changes have occurred over the last 5 years to our work area
Pros
Pay...
Also, the people that work their are talented, hard working, and smart (for the most part).
Cons
Resources are Lean...there's not fat left to cut and most people are doing the work of several people...creates a all work and no play environment. Very rarely is there time to step away from your desk to even have lunch.
Pros
inertia of thinking- work there until you find something more advanced
Cons
you can do better that Qwest
Pros
good benefits package including good vacation time
Cons
revolving door in terms of employees/managers
employees are very expendable
no work/life balance
incredibly difficult IT environment..multiple systems that don't interrelate well
Advice to Senior Management
decide on a strategy and then stick with it
value your employees
Pros
The pay is decent and you receive full benefits. I don't have a lot of good things to say about Qwest.
Cons
I don't feel appreciated, they put a 2 year freeze on pay increases, poor senior management, the merger is looking negative for employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Please treat your employees with more respect, don't block them from promotions when they are deserving of one. Give us more tools to work with so our quotas are attainable.
Pros
Great benefits
Great pay
Feedback is listened to and taken into account
Cons
mall hours
no bonuses for past few years
Advice to Senior Management
Keep listening to your employees
Pros
Competitive salaries and benefits; exposure to evolving communications technologies; a large variety of opportunities for professional growth and expansion of technical expertise; work with smart, dedicated group of people.
Cons
Constant cost cutting resulting from large exposure to declining "land line" business; little opportunity for advancement; also, the currently planned merger with CenturyLink is creating quite a bit of uncertainty about the length of time one might stay employed.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work you've done so far. Don't lose sight of shareholder value in your push to earn your merger payouts.
Pros
Benefits and flexibility. Respectful environment (at least in my dept)
Cons
Hope it changes with CenturyLink acquisition but Q has no long term vision of where it belongs in the market. Expends way too much resources and money in markets in which it can't compete such as large global accounts dominated by T and V.
Lack of business discipline and disproportionate power and a compensation system that does not reward profitable revenue leads to poor business decisions and undermines support staff which is not empowered or supported by Sr Management.
Advice to Senior Management
More oversight and accountability in sales channel.
Strategic vision and focus on markets Q can compete in
Discipline. Discipline. Discipline.
