Pros
Above average compensation. Bathrooms are nice.
Cons
Senior management doesn't have many answers to a rapidly declining customer base.
Advice to Senior Management
Streamline company into a much smaller but more agile (and profitable) internet search outfit.
Pros
Decent benefits and pay along with very talented co-workers. The company has great marketing talent and a highly rated advertising campaign.
Cons
Constant downsizing, declining business, and poor management. Leadership issues are rampant and employee advancement opportunities outside of the sales organization are virtually non-existant.
Advice to Senior Management
Use the bankruptcy filing as a chance to get company finances in order. Trim the ranks of middle management and cut back on the pointless daily planning activities.
Pros
The people who I worked with. I can honestly say RH Donnelley "ran off" more good people than comparable companies can even attract.
Cons
The downside to working with RHD is the people. While they attract some good people, they normally leave, the poor performers, the ones who places backstabbing, face time, old fashion ass kissing and career climbing over technical competencies, morals, values, honesty and doing the right thing. The managers are out of touch with business practices, developments, organizational skills, competencies, and technologies while promoting a culture of elitism, privilege, low expectations and poor compensation.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to people doing the job, invest in the people in the company, be honest and objective with the current state of the company. Some Senior leaders need to be replaced and new blood brought in from outside with more competencies and technical, managerial and leadership abilities.
