    Pros

New CEO Alexi has a great vision and has inspired us that great things are coming.

    Cons

At times client services let the work load build too much and don't manage their client well.

Not digital or data driven at all.

    Pros

There's a handful of people in each department, two or three, that are true stars who would shine anywhere.
Office is within walking distance of plenty of great dining options.

    Cons

Can't win the kind of accounts that attract top talent.
Management can't steer its current client roster in a digital direction.
Not staffed for today's ad world; lots of mid 80's and early 90's DM diehards in top positions.
Not enough staff period; bean counters have pushed management to cut the fat AND the bone. No matter your station, you'll probably end up doing the work of 1.5 or 2 people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop a plan that actually involves investing in digital. I think another poster said this and it demands repeating; the old RAPP was a direct mail champion. What's today's RAPP good at?

    Pros

    Free food
    Great clients
    Spacious workplace
Enjoyed the work I performed - had to go above & beyond to help account managers actually manage/traffic workflow

    Cons

    50-70 hour workweek
In-peer fighting over job security with Dallas, Tx office
Constant back-stabbing - witnessed dozens of employees get fired over nothing and replaced with a sneeze

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get real. Company needs an overhaul. Stop working employees to death.
Revisit advertising and direct response principles.

    Pros

A few cool people, but they are all looking for jobs.

    Cons

LA office is a mess. Stay away. No clue who they are or what they are.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    lots of good people

    Cons

too many entitled people with made up titles running the place in circles

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

empower and reward the people who actually do the work, not the fancy "tittled" people who get in the way just to put their name on a project to advance their careers

    Pros

RAPP's management does a good job at presenting ideas and initiatives. Selling is certainly a strength of theirs. Most of the people seem to be nice on a personal level. Food is frequently served.

    Cons

Everything else. Management has no clue as to how work should get done. Lots of talk from highly-paid people but very little action. Egos. People getting hired into leadership roles with little real experience prior to getting hired. There is also a lot of politics in the office across departments. Getting cooperation across the various disciplines is nearly impossible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Earn some credibility by knowing your s*** then you will get respect from the staff.

  8.

A fun place to work at times, but lacks clear strategy, leadership, and ability to deliver on self-proclaimed expertise.

    Pros

    - For the most part the culture of the employees is young, fun, and healthy.
    - The office has a generally open and laid back feel.
    - There are some extremely talented and intelligent professionals working here, although they are mixed in with a greater majority that more often than not will take credit for their work.
    - They current have a few large clients that offer good experience at a high level.

    Cons

    - Leadership is more concerned with preserving egos and obtaining more personal influence in the company than it is with actually performing the most basic functions of their jobs. Too many cooks in the kitchen.
    - The pay is generally below industry standard while raises and promotions are very rare (they like to hire outside resources rather than promote internally).
    - RAPP does company-wide layoffs on an annual basis. They prefer to call it a "realignment".
    - The strategy department runs the show much to the chagrin of the rest of the agency, which leads a lot of passive-agressive infighting.
    - Overall the agency lacks identity, a committed client base, and is in a state of constant restructure.
    - Talented professionals that come to work for RAPP are often undervalued and generally do not stay with the company for very long.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Implement an agency structure that makes sense for all of RAPP's departments as well as the types of work that they produce and stick with it. Give a voice to the people that actually spend the time and do the work instead of talking over them or ignoring/patronizing them. Your illusion of transparency with your employees is just that, an illusion, and everyone knows it.

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee  in  El Segundo, CA
Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in El Segundo, CA

    Pros

    - Some really smart and innovative people in top management.
    - Some attempt made to provide fun "perks", such as Friday wine cart, even if it feels forced.

    Cons

    - Little attention payed to how to get things done. Every idea is the next hot idea, and Rapp assumes that they can easily become experts in that area, even though no thought is given towards how to make that a reality.
    - Frequent lay-offs, restructuring, and rebranding lead to confusion and low-morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pick a lane. Find something that you want to do, hire the right people to do that, and focus on doing that well.

    Pros

    Good salary
    Good creative
    Good people
    Fun celebrations

    Cons

Cons – The company tries to portray itself as a data driven CRM agency BUT it is far from it. Management does not know anything about data and does not want to accept it. No technology infrastructure and investment. Ideas floating around with no plan for execution. Very frustrating for a data/technical professional. Don't leave your job to join this company if you are data/ analytics/ technical professional. No money for training.v. Volatile.
Can be good for hungry, out of college 20 year olds who can be lured by prospect of free Boose.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advice to Senior Management – Educate yourself! Data discipline needs highly educated resources, infrastructure, and investment.
Management believes that analysis / technological skills can be acquired over a wknd.
You need more doers than idea people.
Change is good but instability is different from change. You will learn it by losing major clients the way you are headed.
