I have been working at RB full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The Powerbrands and company store discounts. Good company to get your feet wet after university. There are bright spots in the company such as people who work hard and get the stuff done, but are overshadowed by a number employees who have big egos!

    Cons

After orientation, euphoria diminishes and you end up keeping your head above water. First 90 days of formal on-boarding doesn't exist. Reason why people leave within months. Lack of support, engagement, and vision from certain Leadership/Management members. "Go figure it yourself" mentality throughout the site." "I'll do what is important now. Next person will worry about it." If you're looking for a team environment, this is not for you. Grab on and work really fast or you'll be gone within a year. Fear and intimidation is a common tactic throughout.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clarify what "Speed over perfection" is. Majority of employees see it as "cutting corners." Can be the company's Achilles heel.

    I worked at RB

    Pros

Very good products although many are derivatives of the base brand. Average pay and good benefits. Some terrific people to work with depending on the area you work in.

    Cons

Like most companies the work-life balance will get out of whack if you let it. Some parts of management are very good, some poor. Marketing runs the show.

I have been working at RB full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you do well on a project you will be given a lot of opportunity.

    Cons

People that do well on projects are rewarded with management roles. This is fine if they are inherently a great leader. However, that is seldom the case. This results in a very 1980's management style (a la the previous CEO) that rewards forcing square pegs into round holes without concern for collateral damage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

RB is very close to the glass ceiling of its current culture - some sites are even at the ceiling. Rakesh is more people focused but the culture he wants is still a few years away. The current leadership metrics don't have anything to do with real leadership - they need to be tied to the success of the team/subordinates if you want to start rewarding the right behaviors.
