I have been working at RB full-time

    Pros

Versus peers at other companies, at every level you have the opportunity for more responsibility, experience and greater voice in terms of what should be done. If you have a good idea, backed with clear and simple rationale you will get to do it - and show the impact of what your ideas have brought to the business - this is the fuel that will keep you wanting more in RB

    Cons

If you can be self-motivated by the opportunities presented as outlined above you will fly. If you are looking for anything else you wont.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As the business grows, don't allow processes to slow down the impact we can have on the market

I have been working at RB full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

What I love about RB is the fast-paced environment and my complete business ownership. The company trusts the decisions I make and allows me to be creative / entrepreneurial. There isn't a lot of red-tape / approvals as with other major FMCGs - decisions are quick and time is then spent on activation. We work hard and play hard. Lots of incentives throughout the year in addition to our bonus scheme. I've moved internationally with RB - there are plenty of opportunities within RB. Lots of exposure to senior management.

    Cons

There's a lot of expectation at RB - hours are long and balance is low. You get out as much as you put in though.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

At times, senior management can be detached from what's happening day to day, but this is improving.

I have been working at RB full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Unparalleled individual ownership working on category leading brands - the platform and resource is there for you to perform and showcase to senior management what you can do. But you need to be a self starter and grab the opportunities yourself; these are the people that thrive at RB ... if you demonstrate the right can-do attitude and perform well you are rewarded well with great progression in turn.

    Cons

Few clear internal processes can make getting thing done challenging at best and chaotic at worst... however if you have the right attitude you will take this in your stride by focusing on what you need to achieve. Would rather this way then being shackled by internal process.
Work loads are tough and, if you are contentious, your work life balance will suffer. However if you are career driven it is a compromise worth making as the reward are there providing you are someone who can turn hard work and effort into performance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to work harder to join up the different departments to get alignment across accounts, trade, category and marketing. too often are objectives and projects at odds/ambiguous leading to completely unnecessary complication/frustration and ambiguity of what exactly is trying to be achieved.

I have been working at RB full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I read the Glassdoor reviews almost 3.5 years ago before joining RB. Knowing no company is perfect I was willing to take on the extra responsibility (and maybe lack of process/balance) to enjoy a dynamic, non-bureaucratic, and results oriented global organization. That is exactly what I got. Two countries and three roles later I've been stretched as individual, added value back to the organization, and worked with some great people.

    Cons

Being dynamic sometimes means being reactive. It's a double edge sword. It's a competitive advantage in terms of reacting to competitor and consumer needs, but as an employee (especially one that likes to be organized and in control) you can find it hard to plan and execute in the more formal sense. You need be comfortable with ambiguity and quick decision making.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There should be a broader perspective on what good leadership looks like and take the time to celebrate successes.

I have been working at RB full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Fast moving, though getting slower due to procedures and processes constantly added
    - Some talented people around
    - Openness to international careers
    - In theory lucrative annual and long-term bonuses, which offset quite low base salaries

    Cons

    - People management and people development are absolutely foreign concepts to this company. Senior managers are not equipped for that
    - No clear career paths and guidance. You're getting promoted or your next assignment if this and that guy knows you personally, rather than based on your results and skills
    - Much touted Leadership charter remains mostly on paper, as senior managers keep behaving as they used to behave before - in many cases as mini-kings in their fiefdoms
    - RB comes up with lots of new projects, but is not ready to either invest or hire resources to succeed with them - so it ends up in the hands of current employees and squeezed into current budgets. So these projects die of natural causes after a while
    - Business decisions are driven by top managers' opinions and perceptions, rather than by data and rationale
    - Lots of internally-focused zero added value work
    - Bonuses seem lucrative on paper, but in reality they are modest due to the mediocre company performance

I have been working at RB full-time for more than a year

    Pros

salary is good, until you consider that working until 10pm regularly (the office is still packed at 8pm EVERY night) you might as well do a night shift at tescos

    Cons

no holidays there is always a crisis which means you can't take them, people throw drinks at each other during meetings including hot coffee. the staff all live by the "we are the best, nobody else can handle it" motto, but why would you want to? All work and no play

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

a few management courses are needed, i was asked to beat my team down but not tell them how to improve, let them work it out for themselves

I have been working at RB full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Incredible opportunities to develop on the job. Complete meritocracy, with those who buy into the culture & values generally rewarded with progression upon delivering success.

    Cons

Sometimes too fast paced for more junior team members. Expectations are built that people will move roles every 12 months. A lot of RB grads can find themselves in senior roles by their late 20s and if they haven't developed a maturity, they will become ineffectual and in turn frustrated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue the exceptional senior leadership, but be careful in giving a little too much too soon to the less experienced
