I worked at RBC Bank N.A. full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great salaries that were unmatched by any other Financial Institution. Also, the environment was better than other banks, like Wells Fargo.

    Cons

As I mentioned, the merger with PNC left a lot of SM's in bad positions after the merger. salaries were no longer going to fit in the much lower PNC pay scales and the PNC did not care about its employees, probably due to the sheer size of the new organization.

    Pros

Good interaction between departments. Excellent learning environment.

    Cons

Limited growth opportunity in some departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less top-down management without input from ground level. Former CEO did not listen to some excellent advice and acquired another bank which ultimately lead to the demise of the entire bank.

I worked at RBC Bank N.A. full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great Pay. Great Benefits. Awesome culture. I really enjoyed working here and I miss everyday I am not with the company. I wish I would have never left.

    Cons

Challenging as there is not currently a brick and mortar presence in the states. It is an online bank catering to the needs of Canadian snowbirds during the warmer months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More value should be given into finding the right people at the some of the entry level positions. It makes our job a bit harder when we are forced to train people not interested in being trained.

    Pros

    Good company with great benefits.

    Cons

Management team was restrictive and limited. There was very little opportunity for movement. There were issues with certain managers, that HR seemed blind to. If you can get a good manager, this company is awesome. The pay could be more in line with the industry, they are a little low. And there seems to be a big variance on who gets a bonus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management had some serious personality issues. HR, needed to listen to the complaints and take action.

Middle management is a joke. If one employee complains is nothing, but when all employees are complaining, you should get the message.
