Pros
I was able to move up in the company with in months and the upper management is very approachable.
Cons
They will write you up over any and everything!
Advice to Senior Management
Remember that you were once in their shoes!
Pros
great benefits, flexible, great teams to work in
Cons
not much room for career growth,
Pros
Flexibility to focus on what I'm great at. Allowed me to be creative in the ways I get the job done.
Cons
I really can't think of any down side to working at RBC Bank except we're being bought by PNC. Change is good but I am not on board with the way we're changing.
Advice to Senior Management
The feedback for upper level management would be good - keep doing what you're doing but everyone knows you can't.
Pros
The people at RBC are what makes you come to work everyday....they may not pay well but they have a knack for attracting very nice people
Cons
down side is that they are very sales focused. Everything is done to satisfy sales and the support staff is under paid and over worked.
Pros
I didn't have any banking experience before I start royal bank. So their training program is very good. I learned a lot. Definitely it developed me personally.
Cons
I would say favoritism and it also depends which bank you are working. So if you want to move sometimes there is very minimum support from the management and of course the salary.
Advice to Senior Management
I have been working here for 2 and half years. its a great place to work with. Sometimes I found we need more coaching and ofcourse more support and better salary
Pros
Decent pay with minimal supervision.
Cons
Long hours without rewards to members.
Advice to Senior Management
Please reward managers and staff.
Pros
strong parent company, global brand, good benefits.
felt like my work was acknowledged and praised , however, praised with words only, not actions. Bank was attempting to right it's wrongs before being sold to PNC.
Cons
the problem with RBC bank started from the very beginning. The parent company lacked the vision or fortitude to succeed in the U.S. market. They never made the necessary investment in technology, scale , or people needed. Compensation was absolutely the worst i've seen in the industry ; especially regarding incentive structure.
Advice to Senior Management
Too late for advice ; RBC Bank was a failed experiment that ultimately will cost a lot of people their jobs once the PNC merger is complete.
Pros
Global Bank with a strong brand recognition
Wealth management & Capital Markets growth
Growth opportunities in career- you have to be the driver
Group Executive in Canada are great leaders
Cons
Exiting Commercial, Business & Retail Banking
Lack of direction at RBC Bank USA
Could not succesfully run and create a regional retail bank
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate clearly with all levels of employees
Pros
various perks (staff discount), reputation, network,
Cons
low salary, pressure from management for sales result
Pros
Salary and bonus compensation was very competitive. The parent company has a strong reputation. They offer flexible work time arrangements.
Cons
Senior management often did not seem to trust or empower the employees to make decisions that were necessary to properly perform their responsibilities.
Advice to Senior Management
The appropriate delegation of authority to qualified and competent employees would allow for a more efficient and fulfilling work environment.
