    Pros

Plain and simple, they don't hire jerks. If you want to work on Wall Street, love markets, and get paid like you work on Wall Street, but work in a non-hostile environment, this is your place.

    Cons

Brand name, people won't know where you work. People may even confuse you with RBS. Not many opportunities on the trading floor, only a few products to learn about.

    Advice to Management

Fix up the website, make the recruiting process more transparent to the public, build the brand on campuses so students respect the name

I worked at RBC Capital Markets (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Lots of resources at the disposal of an Analyst - Decent hours

    Cons

    - Quality of deals are too simplistic for those seeking an intellectually stimulating experience - Balance sheet investment bank so proportion of M&A transactions to vanilla equity/investment grade offerings are 5:95

I have been working at RBC Capital Markets (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good platform to work on, gaining market share, decent comp

    Cons

Little transparency in terms of promotions. Sometimes, it feels like there is too much nepotism and not enough meritocracy

    Pros

The office space is nice, the staff is friendly. The systems are semi-user friendly.

    Cons

They undervalue support staff. Managers pick and choose favorites, and spend money on things rather than giving deserving employees compensation. Lots of red tape and gossiping.

I have been working at RBC Capital Markets full-time

    Pros

Friendly work environment but can be very cliquey.

    Cons

Management should recognize the support staff in more ways than just providing breakfast or lunch a few times a year. Compensation is below par, as are the bonuses. Management tends to play favorites with the support staff which leaves the rest of us feeling very undervalued. This is a tough balancing act type of position. The brokers are never wrong and management always sides with the brokers. This company is not one I would recommend, as I have worked for others, and the hierarchy was different. Currently looking for a CSA position elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Shape up and appreciate your support staff. Get on board with playing fair, compensating more fairly and cease playing favorites.
