    Pros

I had a great manager and wonderful team.

    Cons

Inefficent at comtrolling client expectations. Your experience really depends on your direct supervisior. I started out with a good one and ended up with a not so good one.

    Pros

Voyageur Asset Management, a subsidiary, is where I worked. The senior management team there was an admirable group, overall this was a boutique of highly intelligent and experienced folks.
I appreciated the location of the home office, the environment and the outings as well as the people I worked with.

    Cons

The bureaucracy of moving lateraly or otherwise within the mother company was apparent. I didn't like many things about the way HR worked with employees, especially the ambiguity and lacking in the tuition reimbursement program at the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To Senior Management and Portfolio Managers of Voyageur, you were a bright and welcoming group of mentors. I applaud your level of scholarly achievement s and approach to the real-time market situations. Your most welcoming trait for junior level employees was your openness to teach and mentor.

    Pros

    : Open minded management
: Totally committed to your development
    : Impressive salary and bonuses
: Clear recognition of work and accomplishments

    Cons

: Small offices feel removed from corporate leadership
: All the positives can't prevent consolidation in industry
: Sometimes a little more flexibility would have been appreciated

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to employee feedback and search for the leaders who are truly developing the rank and file. They are your future leaders. However, the environment is the biggest selling point.

Great place for a rock-star analyst interested in operational roles later in their career, and is ok w/ higher risk.

    Pros

If you can get into a good group (not a sure-fire thing), the learning upside is much higher than at a bulge bank. I was running deals & interacting w/ senior management by my second year.

Pay is typically competitive with street (with some occasional exceptions)

    Fun analyst culture

    Cons

Normal investment banking stuff - long hours / the occasional crappy tasks.
