Pros
pretty good about letting you take time off. only the dedicated minority work late (although sadly i am one). Pretty varied company if you want to move around and learn new things, plus there are a lot of opportunities for improvements - so potentially good for BA's
Cons
Rewards are hard won and recognition has been slight over the past 3 years. The company is very slow to move and is pretty far behind the times and frustrating if you're trying to get things done. There is a lot of 'politics' throughout the organization too
Advice to Senior Management
Manage Talent and be willing to educate and invest in those willing to drive change. Communicate more openly and with less snobary, and show people why they should work hard for you.
Pros
- stable 9-5 job (but slowly not becoming one)
- fairly straight-forward trade processing and reconcilliations work
- medical insurance
Cons
- incompetant management and senior staff
- terrible office politics. management favouring their own incompetant cronies to safeguard their own positions
- hiring of idiots (incompetant and bad attitude) that makes it tougher as you have to handle their work most of the time
- there are no almost no written procedures for the job!! and this is a bank!!
Advice to Senior Management
No advise as they are likely probably reaping the benefits of their position and unlikely to change anything
Pros
Place, cantine, good package (except salary), young company and employees, lot of employees really involved in their job, good balnce between private and professional life.
Cons
No strategy, to many middle manager manager as they want their department service, no coordination at all, to many top and middle manager work for themselves and not for the company.
Advice to Senior Management
No strategy, no real comunication top down and down top. Management should identify a strategy and real objectives, identify their processes and adresse objective to them
Pros
-Some good team leaders
-Work colleagues from many diverse backgrounds
-Some of the products can be quite interesting
Cons
-extremely bad management as of August 2010
-approximately 50% of the employees quit during the second and third quarters of 2010 because Senior Management tried to outsource all the jobs to Malaysia so everyone knew that they didn't have a future and began moving to other companies
-unbelievable levels of rumors and politics
-pay is about 10-20% less than what other companies are offering
-staff turnover is extremely high
-almost nothing is communicated to the employees
Advice to Senior Management
tell the truth to your clients and your employees
Pros
Overall it's a good place for a 9-5er. Great new building with some friendly people. Good benefits etc...It would be a great place to gain experience.
Cons
The culture is very hierarchical. It is an intensely political environment and can be emotionally demanding. There's also a lot of 'carrot dangling' when it comes to advancement. Too many undereducated senior managers as well. Most people there aren't really happy but it's amazing what some cold-cuts and an alcoholic beverage can do for employee retention.
Advice to Senior Management
It's very much a top-down management model and as a result breads fear and insecurity amongst employees encouraging gossip and political behavior. It would be better to focus more on 'open communication' between upper management and those that do all the work...Top-down is so yesterday. For a company claiming to be cutting edge, it's business model is prehistoric.
Pros
The job is a regular hour job, doesn't require too much over-time or holiday working. Overall, work load not too much to handle.
Cons
Not much room ro improve and with everything automated no challenge.
Pros
Good work life balance, able to work shift hours so can get in and out early or what ever suits you.
Cons
Minimal chance to advance, always seem to hire externally.
Pros
Global financial institution, one of the biggest custodian bank in the world where we may have a chance to serve big institutional clients like fund houses, investment banks, asset management firms who provide the funds.
Cons
The client base is still weak compare with those top tier competitors, the company does its business only in providing back office services which is another drawback of working within the company
Advice to Senior Management
Expends the client base and targets the group towards those really high net worth clients. Try to explore front office business.
Pros
The people are good to work with. Lot's of industry experience and willingness to train and teach Junior Staff. Work environment pace very fast.
Cons
Limited upward promotability. Unable to advance as area always looking to outsiders to bring in expertise. Once bitten / twice shy / three strikes and I was out...
Advice to Senior Management
Office is small, opportunities limited. Noticed lots of externals coming into organization into Senior positions. A little un-motivating as you don't want to try hard to work due to lack of recognition
Pros
Worked with a very good team members. Each one of them were a specialist in their domain/ technical area.
Management always pushed to share knowledge as much as possible.
Paris entity is quite small and offer to each member a high level of responsibilities,
Cons
Business is relatively small and the number of occasion to spend with them is very low :job is restricted to pure development.
Also evolution of positions is low.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to open communication between business and development team : it will bring efficiency in the application provided and a better understanding of each other job in both side.
