Pros
Excellent Place to Work. Lots of opportunity for advancement if you prove yourself in current role. Available training for career shifting or re-allignment of skills.
Cons
Difficult to "manage out" problem employees. The company makes it difficult to remove problem employees bu giving them TOO much athority within the structure.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to look for innovative ways to improve processes. Just because we are in a old financial institution does not mean improvements can not be made with technology.
Pros
Great opportunities for growth.
Well known in the financial services industry.
Great chance to learn about operating procedures of a highly structured company.
Cons
Emphasis placed on selling account upgrades to clients.
Very difficult to make the move from part time to full time
Advice to Senior Management
Place more emphasis on customer satisfaction (rather than sales) when considering possible promotions for Customer Service Representatives. CSR's who constantly push upgrades on clients may be doing more damage to the company by making them want to switch to a financial institution that offers a less sale intensive experience.
Pros
- fairly low stress environment
- very good work/life balance
- management generally quite good
- solid recognition programs in place
Cons
- huge organization that moves very slowly
- many people I worked with were just putting in their time. Low motivation levels by some staff
- Liimited opportunity for advancement
- below average compensation
Advice to Senior Management
I found there were many people at RBC who did not work very hard. This is one of the reasons I left the organization. I'd recommend trimming some of the deadwood.
Pros
Large Company. Largest bank in Canada.
Management is very supportive. A lot of room for advancement. Multiple offices around the country which means that it is very easy to transfer if one moves. Possibility of taking additional courses from "RBC Campus" to improve your skills.
Some what of a good reward system of points to recognize employees who have done great work.
Possibility of working part time in certain positions while pursuing an education.
Cons
Positions are very focused on one specific role.. Work seems to get very repetitive.
Salaries seems to be low in comparison to some of the other banks, or similar positions in other companies.
Advice to Senior Management
To try to regulate the gap between salaries between part time, temp in comparison to Full time employees.
