Pros
- Good traning program
- Good work benefits
- Different work positions and opportunities
Cons
- High sales objective
- Complicated work procedures
Advice to Senior Management
- Better incentives for performing and hard-working employees
Pros
brand name,, technologically advanced, Luxury car of banks
Cons
once in, tough to move up unless you're an exceptional salesman..easier to go elsewhere and then re-apply to come back, better chance of moving up that way than within.
Advice to Senior Management
look deeper within the corporation to hire and promote staff, specially qualified, young and career driven people. I worked 9 yrs in progressive roles, then was stuck in a role and coudn't move up, left for competition and now 10 months later was rehired by RBC at 50% more pay in a different...would've been cheaper to promote me last year..
Pros
good job stability. Very good corporate culture - client and performance oriented. pay = average. Overall very good managers ( medium - top manager). Low manager = ok.
Cons
performance requierement = above average ( considering pay = average...) . Big organizationnal structure, centralized in Toronto. Reacts very slowly to change .
Advice to Senior Management
clear vision, mission and values. Good communication within the company and very good collabporation within the business units. -a lot of lateral position expected. avoid if you expect fast advancement
Pros
As with any bank, it's a stable job with excellent benefits. RBC has an excellent way of wrapping you inside of its culture. I also felt that they have made very significant efforts to improve customer satisfaction and employee motivation over the last years.
Cons
Very often you will be working with people who have worked for the bank for decades. There are a lot of mediocre people who are just satisfied with their job and who don't want to lose their benefits. In those cases, ambition and motivation is something that you have to develop on your own.
Advice to Senior Management
Encourage employees to change positions and to explore their own strengths.
Pros
The best reasons to work for RBC are the benefits and "possible" opportunity to advance into more lucrative position. RBC is the largest company in Canada.
Cons
The systems and incompetent and employs can render frustration. At the retail level, management seems to feel that they are above your level of inteligence. They can be condescending. Also, employees that have been working for the bank for many years but have a position that requires less responsibility and ultimitely less power, will challenge you on every issue. They are usually always wrong. This is frustrating and makes the atmosphere somewhat undesirable.
Advice to Senior Management
i would tell her to go back to school!!!
Pros
it's not bad salary, and if you just want to do your job and nothing else, no advancement in the company. it the place to be.
Cons
they will abuse of your wish to grow and say that it's always good experience, when they use you only when needed and tell you that you can't be promoted but you have the knowledge to do the job.
Advice to Senior Management
stick to your career development plan. don't disillusion your employees. tell them the truth and only the truth... say that you do want to use their knowledge and abilities and yet you are not willing to pay them at that salary.
Pros
Stable jobs, lots of training, training is very well done, mostly nice coworkers. Good opportunities for advancement for people who like bank jobs, often even if they don't have a college degree.
Cons
Boring, non creative jobs. Some managers are deceptive about your position with the company and other matters that pertain directly to an employee. Managers need more training to have a more humain touch when handling people.
Advice to Senior Management
Create more flexible job arrangements, to retain and hire more students and mothers. It's the low level employees that have the boring jobs. These jobs aren't that boring if you're working part time, thus they are perfect for students, parents of young kids and semi-retired people.
Train managers to be nicer.
