Pros
Large, international, well capitalized, stable and highly respected investment banking.
Cons
A little too ambiguous in terms of goals, objectives...pay is good could be better...
Advice to Senior Management
More direct setting of career path for senior employees will help.....
Pros
Good benifits
Good profit sharing plan
job security
Cons
lack of motivation
lack of career planning
treated like children
poor salary
Advice to Senior Management
listen to your employees more and treat us more as assets to the bank rather than worker bees.
Pros
Great colleagues. Great thinkers. Know how to have fun and work.
Cons
Not always paid for overtime, but that goes for most employers.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work.
Pros
Great opportunities for growth.
Well known in the financial services industry.
Great chance to learn about operating procedures of a highly structured company.
Cons
Emphasis placed on selling account upgrades to clients.
Very difficult to make the move from part time to full time
Advice to Senior Management
Place more emphasis on customer satisfaction (rather than sales) when considering possible promotions for Customer Service Representatives. CSR's who constantly push upgrades on clients may be doing more damage to the company by making them want to switch to a financial institution that offers a less sale intensive experience.
Pros
-prestige, and an environment where hard work is appreciated
- one of the things i love, is the benefits... but thats what you find anywhere
Cons
-sometimes its a little too big
-useless pitching
-need to get the actual banking assistants to do actual admin work, that would be great
Advice to Senior Management
- dont work your analysts so hard, so you can recruit better employees, have less turnover and gain a better reputation to poach other top talent
Pros
Great environment
Good people
strong management
Care about the employees
make sure that new strategies are implemented to keep morale
Cons
Morale ar times can be low.
Workers can become disposable
no room for movement
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your workers more.
Pros
RBC is a great place to work for someone starting into middle management or anywhere within IT. With middle management jobs there is good growth potential and learning opportunities up to the senior manager level. As for IT roles, RBC has a long history of operating a large and quality IT shop.
Cons
Since an initiative 5 years ago known as "Client First" the growth opportunities for senior management (and some exec) has all but ceased. While this is a simple outcome of a flatter organization, the comp structure (particularly for PL06 roles) has not fundamentally changed to allow for growth within the salary band.
Advice to Senior Management
Need more emphasis on hiring and growing subject matter experts (the doers) vs. continuing to grow Strategy, Business Architecture, and other Power Point focused roles.
Pros
Leadership - at the most senior levels in the organization, the talent is quite formidable
Work/Life Balance - it is at the foundation of our employment practices throughout the organization
Innovation - Drive to be the best in class in every market in which RBC does business is part of the institutional dna
Cons
Salary Range - need to examine ranges to attract new talent
Aging infrastructure - need to have a more aggressive mindset to replace aging infrastructure and adopt new technology at a faster pace
Advice to Senior Management
Quicken the pace of implementation. We have wonderful initiatives, but are often slow to move on them.
Pros
RBC allows individuals to work outside of their organizational structure on very interesting cross-enterprise initiatives.
Cons
Very large company, there challenging to have direct facetime with senior executives on projects given the size and scale of the company.
Advice to Senior Management
none
Pros
- fairly low stress environment
- very good work/life balance
- management generally quite good
- solid recognition programs in place
Cons
- huge organization that moves very slowly
- many people I worked with were just putting in their time. Low motivation levels by some staff
- Liimited opportunity for advancement
- below average compensation
Advice to Senior Management
I found there were many people at RBC who did not work very hard. This is one of the reasons I left the organization. I'd recommend trimming some of the deadwood.
