Pros
Good learning skills, and reputed company.. Amazing core values and corporate culture, client always comes first, you never have to lie to be the best at your job, they always look at the customers needs before anything else.
Cons
salary is usually lower compared to other banks.
Pros
great training program
wonderful staff
room for advancement
well-known financial institution
Cons
too much push for sales
uncompetitive wage
Advice to Senior Management
management must present a way of encouraging employees to enjoy their jobs other than constantly pushing for more and more sales
Pros
Ability to work on interesting files
Cons
No room for growth unless someone moves out or your parents know someone in upper management
Advice to Senior Management
Change the con
Pros
Good reputation and highly regarded. A lot of talents within the network. Fantastic support from management. Lot of resources to keep you informed of what is happening outside your franchise.
Cons
Career movement depends on who you are working with. They think they own their clients. Motto "Client First" is a lie.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't trash your staffs. They are resourceful with great discipline. You could have the best system in the Canadian world. Let's keep it that way.
Pros
RBC is a very large and stable company that offers good compensation (but lower than most banks). The work environment is good, and there's lots of opportunity to try several different career paths. You work at one Canada's premier companies with major brand recognition, and for the most part the people are great.
Cons
You need to find the right manager. RBC can be a great place to work, but with the wrong manager it can be very difficult and stressful! They also have very rigid systems and policies in place which is good as it can make the job very easy once you've mastered the system, just don't expect to be able to use personal judgment or think outside the box.
Advice to Senior Management
Trust your employees.
Pros
Strong brand name
Lots of different opportunities within the bank
Exceptional training
Relations within the bank are very professional and leads to success
Cons
The bank is very efficient so they set up the jobs to maximize the amount of profit out of each person. T
Advice to Senior Management
I think senior management is amazing. They truly lead by example at this organization. I don't have anything negative to say about leadership.
Pros
Good benefits that were flexible and accomodating, especially for families
stable job
reliable hours
customer interaction
Cons
High interoffice politics, Sexist depending on location, Low feedback, incomplete training, sales, impatience
Advice to Senior Management
Remain objective, give full honest feedback, and support staff before there is a problem as opposed to accusatory after the fact.
Pros
I work as an Account Manager at the branch level in West Vancouver. I was first hired as a CSR and was able to quickly move up to Account Manager once I let my manager know of my intentions. I found nothing but support from management on my intentions to pursue a lasting career with RBC and advancing quickly.
RBC is a very multi cultural and accepting company to work for. I am always surprised at the different types of people they hire. Also, if you put in your time there is plenty of room for career advancement. The training is great and you have tons of support from all your service partners to really give your clients a superior experience.
Cons
The lack of team spirit between the service and sales teams at the branch level as always bothered me. It is also tough at time to attract clients with our rates becuase RBC is very risk adverse and looks out for the strength of the company and its shareholders. That can be a pro and a con at times.
RBC being such a big bank can also be a problem in moving the company in a direction quickly.
The turn around in the bank is very high (especially on the service side) which often leaves clients frustrated to not be dealing with the same person for very long. This is largely due to career advancement opportunities which is a good thing if that is what you are interested in.
Advice to Senior Management
There needs to be more of a team atmosphere especially between the service and sales teams.
We also need to become a little more hip to attract younger clientele.
