    Pros

    Good money, great team.. Lots of teamwork and focus on common goals

    Cons

    Owner completely out of touch with many of his corporate clients and he has a total inability to provide any staff member any positive feedback. Shouting rudely is how he rolls!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Trust your staff, quit micromanaging and allow yourself to learn from your staff. Pass on your skills and knowledge to those who are willing to learn.

    Pros

    Great people, decent benefits, after budget season you get some time off and company closes for 10 day for Christmas break (floater days).

    Cons

    Not many career opportunities, really long hours and the bonus is a joke. People are not happy with their compensation plans

    Improve the bonus, there is no growth or development within the company management needs to do something about it.

    Pros

    I learned more in my decade here than most people learn in a whole career. Programs are cutting edge, pay and benefits are quite good, and if you are young and talented, the development opportunities are incredible. Great place to start your career.

    Cons

    Very high performance culture - up, up and out. Very high paced and demanding, great work-life balance program on paper, but it doesn't translate to reality. Not as much recognition and development for consistent high performers unless you are internationally mobile and willing to dedicate 12 hours a day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Slow down and plan. Much of the stress employees feel and the chaos comes from lack of prioritization and lack of planning. Learn to appreciate employees at all points in the work cycle. If you move people through positions a little more slowly, you will get a higher quality product. New CEO has a lot to learn in order to emulate a John Barnett.

    Good place to work if you have no ambition

    I worked at RBH

    Pros

    RBH pay their sales force very well for what they do. Essentially the job involves driving around to convenience stores and gas stations checking to see if the products in RBH's portfolio are in distribution. If they aren't, you are supposed to entice the retailers to order them from their wholesaler. That is basically all you do, and $60k+ is a pretty generous salary to drive around for a couple hours a day talking to convenience store employees.

    In reality the job is completely useless as tobacco products in Canada cannot be displayed in retail stores, so you never actually "sell" anything except a 10c discount per pack to try and drive volume. Most of the chain accounts have auto-distribution contracts in place so you don't even have to get the store to order the product. It simply shows up in their shipment, and your sole job is to mark it "in distribution" in the company CRM...Always be closing.

    If you have absolutely no ambition to develop your skill set as a sales professional, and you purely want to make a solid 60k + car + bonus for basically doing nothing, this is a great job. Do not expect any sort of formal training, career development, manager support, or intelligent conversation with your colleagues.

    Cons

    Felt like working for a union. All of the sales reps have been doing the job for years, and have no plan to be promoted or advance their career. In fact, I witnessed many of my colleagues actually turn down promotions to head office, as they felt that the salary increase couldn't be justified by the prospect of actually having to do real work. I have never worked in a more unstimulating environment, and it was pretty depressing to look around at the utter lack of ambition in the office. Most of the reps are nice enough people, but they become so accustomed to doing such little work for such decent pay, that they develop a pretty sickening sense of entitlement the longer they work there for. I heard people saying things like "I can't believe they won't let us pick black for our new company car".

    The management team are even worse. Average age of managers is 50+, and average tenure is 20+ years. In most cases, they have worked for the company for their entire careers, and celebrate the fact that they have basically just cruised through their working years as a tobacco rep, only to then be promoted to district sales manager; the most benign job imaginable. The managers don't trust the reps to do their job (rightly so), and will follow up on calls you made the previous day, to try and catch you out on not actually completing the calls you had scheduled. That is basically all they do, try to micromanage reps, but they do a pretty marginal job of even that, since they are equally as unmotivated to do their jobs properly. Most of the sales managers are pretty incompetent, and have a conceited, closed minded attitude towards learning anything new. The most frightening part about them, is that they think that they have actually led an accomplished career, and feel that their status in middle management is worthy of some considerable praise.

    Reps who show any level of tangible initiative are instantly shunned by their colleagues, as the rest of them now run the risk of 'looking bad' for only working 3/4 hours per day. It's a pretty bleak existence for people who are even only slightly motivated to succeed.

    Extremely unprofessional work environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Upper management - revamp your DSM profile, clear out the dead weight 'gravy train riders', hire some young, energetic, motivated sales managers who will actually foster rep development.

    Sales Managers - Wake up. Your job is not that important. Be more open to the concept of personal and professional development. Hire reps who want to move up within the company.

    friendly and good place to work.excellent patient service,grat communication and team. very connvinient transport wise.not bad at all

    there are no downsides of this place.the pharmacy would benefit from the bigger space and being all at one level

    do not have to give any advice cos there is everything fine with the place and managment is taking great care of the staff
