I worked at RDA Corporation full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

By far the best group of smart tech folks in a single location, yet to find a similar company. High compensation, paid overtime. Practice groups keep you motivated and encourages continuous education. Great group of folks to work with, no Big 5 mentality with fake titles and arrogant attitudes. Not for the lazy-unmotivated OR non-Techie-we-love-acronyms folks, you will not survive.

    Cons

A bit of random project allocation that may not necessarily match your skills, no 401k matching, weak on long term strategy and business development. Pros outweigh Cons.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need some new ideas to try a different approach to keep the top folks for the long run especially with the market becoming more competitive. However please stay who you are & don't fall into the off-shoring model like so many other companies i.e. don't be cheap, no wonder we hear so much about poor software quality.

I have been working at RDA Corporation full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

RDA has very supportive management for both professional and personal issues. They encourage learning new technologies and techniques. The local offices have a family feel to them. You are compensated for overtime on an hourly basis. Management is very optimistic towards future development trends and is looking to train the delivery staff on them.

    Cons

While the salary is nice, the benefits are better in other companies (401k match, % of medical coverage contributions for those with families). The salary does help offset that to a small extent. Off-hours work is sometimes required for internal practice group work. Pros definitely outweigh the cons.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider reinstating some of the benefits dropped a while ago (profit sharing, etc.). When planning projects, allow for ample time for training and learning new technologies.

I have been working at RDA Corporation full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people, technically excellent people, and excellent salary for delivery staff. Everyone is dedicated to their job and professional. Bonuses for certifications and travel.

    Cons

Work/life balance is tough. Non-salary benefits are less than desirable. Some benefits were cut a while back and never fully reinstated when times got better. No 401k Salary match, partial or otherwise. Medical insurance employee contribution percentage is much higher than other places I've worked or could work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When reviewing benefits packages, don't just compare benefits to what everyone else in the industry is doing. Do what's right and needed for your employees. People in the delivery department rate the quality of our work by what needs to be done, not what other people on projects are doing. Management should be doing the same.

I worked at RDA Corporation full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Very strong technical people - probably the only company I worked for where all my colleagues were stars. Good salary/benefit package (and great raises every year.) Learned a lot about .NET and related technologies during my two years long tenure there.

    Cons

Lack of company culture - you mostly meet those people you directly work with on projects, plus some managers. Work/life balance is so-so. Working for RDA is like having a day job and a night job, because in addition to working for the clients during the day, you're expected to participate in the technical evangelist teams. Also, it seems to me that RDA is a bit chaotic as far as putting people on projects - I don't quite understand why send people from DC to Atlanta and from Atlanta to DC instead of minimizing unnecessary travel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be a bit wiser while assigning people to projects, geographically and skillwise. Create more of a company culture.

I have been working at RDA Corporation

    Pros

Compared to the industry, the salary and benefit package was really good. The projects were all challenging and interesting.

    Cons

There's no strategy behind the types of projects that RDA go after. No real sense of belonging to a company. At times, I forgot who was my employer, the company or the client. Perception goes a long way, and depending on your project manager, they'll take all the credit. Overall, not too impressed with RDA.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to employees and stop staffing projects with the wrong people. Give consultants incentives as opposed to just managers.
