I worked at REJIS full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

REJIS was a good company to work for. If you're a competent tech, then there is always room to move up to senior tech positions. You get to work on some pretty big systems, which is valuable on the resume. The people working in the IT departments were easy to work with, and always willing to help each other out. They are extremely flexible with schedule and willing to work with you as long as you put in your hours. Mid level management was easy to work with, and did a good job of listening to what you had to say.The best things about working there were the 3 weeks vacation, holidays, 9% contribution to pension, and the people you work with. I would have never left the company if they were able to compete with the salaries and benefits that other companies were offering for the same position.

    Cons

They are not competitive with salary, so they end up losing most of their Sr level techs. There are no bonuses, and the raises aren't too great. The health insurance is pretty terrible, and was getting worse every year before I left. The HR department messes up a lot, so anything they work on needs to be double checked. You can't believe a lot of what the CEO/GM says in the company meetings. He makes it seem like he's taking an open book approach, but in actuality he's usually just saying what people want to hear.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Start compensating your Sr level techs better to keep them around. You need a good balance of experience to help train the new, fresh out of college guys REJIS typically hires. Ensuring your new techs are trained properly and have someone to fall back to with questions will help improve your customer satisfaction.

    2. The GM should be more straight forward. There were quite a few times when he told us one thing in a meeting, and did something to contradict what he told us within a few weeks.

    Pros

Many opportunities to learn new technologies
Given much freedom to implement new technology
THE BEST 401k... 9% of pay regardless of what you contribute
    Paid training and tuition reimbursement
Upper Management easy to talk to and you can have influence over a situation as a result
Reviews and corresponding Raises were what you made of them... the more effort and hard work put in throughout the year would be rewarded with a much better review / raise.

    Cons

Only health insurace offering is an HSA plan with an etremely high deductible

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider combining the Network Services and Application Development divisions back under the same Director... The teams would work much better together

    Recommends
    Positive Outlook

Empower your employees, stay competitive with other govt sector companies. Get competitive Health Insurance and not just Casualty insurance and be up front and honest when bringing new people to the company

    - 3 weeks paid vacation to start with

    Cons

    - Not a lot of upward movement unless you want to be management
    - Slow work pace

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Reward your employees with higher pay, more of them will stick around.
