    Pros

With Al Monserrat as new CEO and continued growth of IT Store, excitement is growing at RES Software. RES has a large opportunity in front of us to help lead an IT shift to be more user centric. With the right technology, right leadership and a ripe industry, I believe there is a lot of opportunity for RES to grow. Customers share this excitement and enjoy working with RES and using the technology. There are continually product release updates which make customers happy to see new advancements and reaction to their product requests.

    Cons

Growth and new leadership can bring growing pains and sometimes employee turnover. Change is hard and at times can bring uncertainty before there is full clarity around future direction.

    Advice to Management

Market dynamics are constantly changing and I believe RES has an opportunity to capture the opportunity. However, decisions need to be made quickly and have bandwidth to execute to avoid missing the opportunity in front of us.

    Pros

I've worked at a lot of companies of various sizes and none have been as much fun to work for as RES. My colleagues make it worth coming in everyday and my management is always willing to hear my ideas and even let me disagree when I don't agree with theirs. Management gives you a lot of leeway to make your own path instead of micromanaging how you do your job. There has also been a lot of effort that I've seen on better training and educating the staff (it's a newer approach so it's not perfected, but I see the progress). The technology is really cool and there is a lot of effort in trying to make it better and more customized for customers' needs.

    Cons

This isn't the company to work for if you don't want to get down into the weeds. There is no place to hide if you're not performing so the pressure is always on. The company is trying to prove itself very quickly which can cause growing pains.

    Advice to Management

Think of growth as a marathon rather than a sprint. If we push too hard, the employees will burn out before the company hits it's potential, and there is a lot of potential. Focus on quality of effort rather than quantity.

    Pros

Good compensation package; a lot of opportunities withing the company and help with growth within the company; They use their own software; people are willing and eager to collaborate between departments

    Cons

Current strategy might need some more foundation, too much changes at the last possible minute. Hopefully the new CEO will be able to steer to a path of structured growing of the company.

    Advice to Management

Create a strategy and stick to it and make sure that all departments have time to prepare. This will increase the quality of the message delivered both internally as well as externally

    Pros

The technology was cutting edge 4-8 years ago. As mobility has grown and XP has died, RES has been in a decline. Great culture of treating peers as family and friends, but only at peer level, not by management. Great benefits, salary and travel policy. Great Presidents Club New CEO will hopefully change management and strategy for the better. There are a lot of people hoping he will change management and management mistakes

    Cons

Executive management provides half truths and lies! They continually hire C+ players because management is fixated on bodies in chairs rather than quality. They continually believe more head count equates to more revenue or appearance of a larger company. They are a Channel focused company that doesn't know how to build or manage the channel. Executives are continually making bad decisions on the strategy for products and market. Ex: They made IT store their flagship product when Workspace Manager provided over 70% of revenue. By the time they realized their mistake it was too late and were forced to RIF employees. This is just one example of many. IT Store is cool but not a leader. Other IT Store providers like SericeNow, BMC Remedy and other custom software vendors have the customer base to upsell "nice to have" technology. RES Follows the European tech sales belief of "if you build it they will buy it". That doesn't work in the US or majority of Europe, except in Netherlands. Where is RES located?

    Advice to Management

Since Microsoft, Citrix and VMware have competing products and XP is dead or dying, who will you sell to? Concentrate on LME or small enterprises. They are a sweet spot that the larger software vendors neglect, do to pricing restraints. Listen to your team, instead of ignoring their opinions, because you may think you have done it all and know better, but 30 years ago technology and sales was much different. Finally, stop lying! Giving 1% of the truth is still not the truth when 99% of the facts are missing.

    Pros

If you enjoy banging your head against a brick wall, big egos and one of the most difficult ways of making a living, go ahead and work here. otherwise, there are no good reasons to work at RES Software.

    Cons

Very bad upper level VP of sales management in the U.S. Very unprofessional and petty management. No proper process and procedures. No brand recognition and employees are not treated well. A lot of turn over and I'll be leaving soon as well. Other larger and more established companies do a lot of what the RES product does. Sure the product has some cool features, but what the company doesn't understand is, that the field of dreams way of "build it and they will come" is not a way to go to market and expect to acclerate growth.

    Advice to Management

U.S. VP of Sales leadership needs an overhall. Or better yet, start looking to sell the company soon!

    Pros

Working with John Kane & The excellent SE Team. Technology is solid and innovative

    Cons

Poor US VP Leadership, lack of training, poor brand recognition and not enough marketting and advertising. Channel program is very immature. Upper executive leadership does not appreciate and value employee contributions. A lot of turn over as well. Many larger companies do much of what RES Does. While RES does it better, customers are already invested with the larger and more established companies. Lastly, way too much travel for this position. I would not recommend working here.

    Advice to Management

To upper mangement, (not player coaches).....Don't be so paranoid that you make bad decisions and treat employees poorly. Be more engaged in the business and learn the different markets in the US and how they are different and sales cycles are in fact different. Show appreciation and respect for your team members and provide training and development opportunities.

    Pros

Salaries are above average for the type of roles they provide.

    Cons

No growth room. EMEA management is clueless and now they run parts of US operations. They don't have any direction. It's all about putting one fire out with every customer because sales doesn't understand the product and support doesn't understand the product and that makes for a bad combination. Last CEO had a vision that didn't suit a small software company and now they have no CEO at all. No direction. Whenever sales are down the first thing they do is fire the sales staff and throw money at marketing. Training is almost non existent and these are tough products to understand for folks that work here, let alone for customers that want to implement. Big named customers that they used to hang their hat on are realizing this is not a good product or solution and other companies have better, cheaper products. Some have pulled it or threatened to pull the product. Employees are encouraged to give positive reviews out here to entice more employees to come on board.

    Advice to Management

Close up the US and focus on EMEA or get your best offer from Citrix and let them run it.

    Pros

CTO & Founder is great. Technology is interesting and works well

    Cons

Very slow growth and outlook is poor. Lack of investment in Branding, marketing and advertising. Constantly changing messaging and still trying to figure out what the company wants to be when it grows up. The culture is not good. Management plays favorites, there is a lot of pettiness, lack of process, lack of management's understanding of different markets being sold into. Lack of growth opportunities. Sales cycle is too long and limitted opportunties to accelerate Lack of strong channel partner community. There is also a lot of overlap between what RES Software offers and what more established companies that many customers have already invested in can offer. I would not recommend working here.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in branding, advertising and marketting as well as employee development and internal processes.

    Pros

There really are no good reasons to work here. While the product is a savvy technology, the larger, more establish, better run and mature companies offer similar solutions. As my manager has even said, RES Software's technology is very much a nice to have and not a must have. We work to make it a must have but it is a struggle

    Cons

The company is run poorly, they do not treat their employees well, and the overall culture is not what it used to be. A lot of pettiness both within management chain and amongst employees. Not collaborative and a LOT of big egos. Growth has slowed quite a bit and outlook is poor.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees to do their job, work to understand the different markets. One size does not fit all. Spend more money on Marketting, advertising and brand vision and awareness.

    Pros

Generous compensation, fantastic benefits, many employees receive stock options, pension, company car, working from home

    Cons

Ever-changing product strategy, mostly old technology (VB6), no understanding of how to compete with ServiceNow, VMware, and CITRIX, offers disjointed complex products, long implementations, customers asking for their money back, difficult market, nice to have solution. there are easier ways to earn a living

    Advice to Management

Sell the company before it is too late
